The Renfield Project was born officially in April of 2002, with the integrants Erik (vocal and keyboards), William (guitar), Louis (contrabass) and Wagson (drums). Each integrant had his own respective bands and projects of different styles, being then the Renfield Project the confluence of these trends.
With the initial intention to play covers of bands as Sisters of Mercy, Nosferätu, The Cure, Christian Death, also other groups and styles, which goes of Lacrimosa to Depeche Mode, the band started to take form proper and to work in your own musical style. Walking for a source more approached to gothic rock, the band invests in a deeper and obscure sonority. Our thematic poetical and musical encloses since the edge of the art to the romantism, of decadentism to the intense humanism. As our individual influences are varied, is impossible to define in few words the nature of our production...
After some shows, we played in the Festival Epidendrum Nocturnum - a Tribute to the Lupercais, where was released the collectanea "Homônima". In this collectanea "Nigh" and "Her Shadow" had been enclosed, our first musics to be launched in CD, and later, "Her Shadow" was enclosed in the collectanea "Equinoxe", Brazil-Germany compilation, released simultaneously in these two countries. After a period of silence, in 2007 the band comes back to walk in a new formation. Beyond Erik and William that remain, the band was reformulated with Cadu Lobo (contrabass), Gustavo (drums) and Bira (guitar) joining. At the moment, the band works in the creation of his first demo, and shows that always counted on the energy and support of friends, who had never abandoned us.
Of this variety of styles and thematics, the name of the band was born: Renfield is a personage of the book "Drácula" of Bram Stoker. This poor man eats insects and other beings livings creature, in attempt to digest them, to extract the essence and to transform it into "souls for the master". Thus we make: we absorb the essence purest of the art and poetry that in comove our soul, transforming this miscellany of impressions, pains and delights in music. "Souls for the Master".
O Projeto Renfield nasceu oficialmente em abril de 2002, com os integrantes Erik (vocal e teclados), William (guitarra), Louis (contrabaixo) e Wagson (bateria). Cada integrante tinha suas respectivas bandas e projetos de diferentes estilos, sendo então o Projeto Renfield a confluência dessas tendências. Com o propósito inicial de tocar covers de bandas como Sisters of Mercy, Nosferätu, The Cure, Christian Death, além de outros grupos e estilos, que iam de Lacrimosa a Depeche Mode, a banda começou a tomar forma própria e trabalhar seu próprio perfil musical. Caminhando para uma vertente mais aproximada ao gothic rock, a banda investe numa sonoridade mais profunda e obscura. Nossa temática poética e musical abrange desde a arte marginal até o romantismo, do decadentismo ao humanismo intenso. Como nossas influências individuais são variadas, é impossível definir em poucas palavras a natureza da nossa produção... Depois de algumas apresentações esparsas, participamos do Festival Epidendrum Nocturnum - Um Tributo ao Lupercais, onde houve o lançamento de uma coletânea homônima. Nesta coletânea foram incluídas "Night" e "Her Shadow", nossas primeiras músicas a serem lançadas em CD. E posteriormente, "Her Shadow" foi incluída na coletânea "Equinoxe", compilação Brasil-Alemanha, lançada simultaneamente nesses dois países. Após um período de silêncio, em 2007 a banda volta a caminhar numa nova formação. Além de Erik e William que permanecem, a banda se reformulou com a entrada de Cadu Lobo (contrabaixo), Gustavo (bateria) e Bira (guitarra). No momento, a banda trabalha na criação de sua primeira demo, além dos shows, que sempre contou com a energia e o apoio dos amigos e companheiros, que nunca nos abandonaram. Desta variedade de estilos e temáticas nasceu o nome da banda: Renfield é um personagem do livro “Drácula” de Bram Stoker. Este pobre homem devorava insetos e outros seres vivos, na esperança de digeri-los, extrair a sua essência e transformá-la em “almas para o mestre”. Assim fazemos: absorvemos a essência mais pura da arte e poesia que nos comove a alma, transformando esta miscelânea de impressões, dores e deleites em música. “Almas para o Mestre”.
