PROLETARYAT is one of classical rock bands and one of the best groups of the second generation of Polish rock scene. It's a group that combined punk rock with metal in an original way, creating a new musical quality. Thanks to serious and meaningful lyrics, the group is considered to be the voice of the generation of the transformation time in Poland (1980-1990). They say: Our songs are like mirrors, they reflect our reality.
PROLETARYAT was set up at the end of 1987 in Pabianice. A year later, an independent record company released on tape their album entitled ''Revolt'', which attracted the attention of the music business. In 1989 they performed at the Jarocin festival where they swept the board winning three main prizes awarded by the audience, the press and the organizers. In 1990-91 two albums, ''Proletaryat'' and ''Czerwony Proletaryat'' (Red Proletariat) were released and they were very well received. The uncompromising message contained on these albums, as well as hundreds of concerts secured them a place among the leaders of the Polish rock scene. The next albums ''Czarne szeregi'' (Black brigades) (1993), ''IV'' (1994), ''Zuum'' (1996) and ''Made in USA'' (1999) revealed a new artistic direction of the band. Each of them contained music that was different both stylistically and in terms of sound, but this did not have a noticeable influence on their position or popularity. Today, despite the fact that they have already become a living legend, they have lost nothing of their energy, which is proved by their two 'live in concert' albums and the ''The best of Proletariat'' compilation. PROLETARYAT is a strong, widely recognized brand, a synonym of authentic, vibrant rock, a group for whom the sound of the instruments is as important as the lyrics. All this can be seen on a brand new album called ''Recycling'', released in autumn 2006, and which many fans claim to be the best one in the band's career.
