About me:
PROPPA UNKONSHUZ was a Liverpool punk band that played 10 gigs between sat 18th Dec 1999 & Mon 29th may 2000. Below is the history of the band.
The band started when Nik ex Radio Mongolia met Seanie in the Krazy house in early 1999. Nik said he was forming a band and Seanie said he'd sing in it. After about 3 months the band that now included ex MDM, Glass Fad, SO77 guitarist Phil Bowen had their first rehearsal in Seanie's house. Phil never turned up at the next rehearsal so Nik & Seanie thought that was that, but no Phil was at the next rehearsal. After rehearsing for 7-8 weeks the band recruited Alan North on bass. They met Alan outside the swan pub in wood st Liverpool and asked him to join.
The band rehearsed each week while trying to find a drummer. Still without a drummer the band where offered their first gig @ The Royal Castle pub in Birkenhead an offer they accepted. On arriving at the venue the band asked the drummer from welsh band Out Of Use to play for them at the gig and he did. Also on the bill that night was 0898 & TV SMITH.
Finally in early 1999 the band found a drummer 15-year-old legend in the making Sean Howe. We could list Sean’s other bands but we would be here all day.
Seanie saw a poster for a battle of the bands contest @ the Hanover Hotel in Hanover st Liverpool and went into the venue and asked could Proppa Unkonshuz enter. He was told the contest was for indie bands but if any bands were unavailable they may get a chance to play. The band did get to play and after 2 rampaging gigs were given there own night by the manager to put gigs on. These nights ran for 6 months continuing after the band had split.
The bands final gig was memorable as a mass brawl erupted during the gig. During this Seanie was knocked out by a doorman, but got up and the band carried on and finished the gig.
That was the end of the band but as stated the nights still carried on. A list of some of the bands who played @ the Hanover between march & September 1999 - HATEWORK, INSTANT AGONY, EXTERNAL MENACE, DOGSHIT SANDWICH, 0898, LOWLIFE, W@RM, ANARCHY SPANKY, LUNA SUIT, DOG FLAMBE, JO 90, EGG RAID, ADULESCENTS UK, HOMEBREW, GODZUKI, THE RELATIVES, VICTIMS, SECOND NATURE, HIPPY KILLER, PRIVATE BALACLAVA, ZOMBINA & THE SKELETONES, PUSHED ASIDE, MEDULLA NOCTE, THE CURIOUS DOCTOR HUMP, LINDEN HEY, ELEMENT, GUNPOINT CO-OPERATION, SUSPICIOUS STAINS, ROTUNDA, INTENTION & EASTFIELD & more bands who we’ve long since forgot.
