Too much to list, but I'll give it a go: Graphic design, internet marketing, affiliate marketing, real estate, network marketing, CafePress, reading and learning new things, meeting new people, coaching, reiki, drawing and painting, interior design and decorating, making jewelry, writing, spending time with my husband and family, hanging out with friends, community theater, singing, human rights, animal rights, the sheer potentiality of the Universe, the Law of Attraction, learning and expanding, helping others to discover their potential, meeting new people and sharing perspectives.
Music
I like pretty much anything, actually. One thing I don't tolerate is "music" filled with hate and violence. I also enjoy the beauty of complete silence.
Movies
The Secret, What the Bleep, Pass It On. I like movies where you come away just knowing without a doubt that anything is possible.
Television
When I do watch, it's mostly interior design shows, the shows about flipping houses and things like that. The Biggest Loser and definitely Heroes ... now that's an awesome show.
Books
I absolutely LOVE to read. These days, it's mostly educational things about internet and affiliate marketing and real estate. For "just for fun" reading, I like pretty much anything, but once I pick up a book, I usually can't put it down until I've finished it. A few of my favorites: Way of the Peaceful Warrior, Think and Grow Rich, The Fountainhead, Rich Dad Poor Dad, Success Principles.
Heroes
Anyone who stands up for what is RIGHT and what is TRUTH despite the consequences, and those who stay true to their dreams.
I'm a fairly open book, so if there's something you want to know that I haven't shared here,
feel free to ask!
First of all, I'm passionate about
helping others achieve their dreams
and a true believer in
multiple streams of income!
I built this MySpace
for a lot of reasons, one of which is to have a vehicle for helping people grow
- personally, spiritually, financially, and in ways that maybe I haven't even
imagined yet.
I also want to meet, network, and give back to other entrepreneurs who may be just starting out on their path or those who may have been working at it for a while with few or no results. Hopefully, my story can help inspire you to discover a better alternative like I did.
But before I get into all of that, let me tell you a little bit about myself - who I am today and the path that brought me here.
I was born in Baltimore
and currently live near Reading, PA (about an hour or so northwest of Philadelphia).
I was fairly shy most of my life, hiding behind a physical feature I thought
was larger than life when, in fact, most people never really paid attention
to it. Looking back, I realize I wasted a lot of time on something that wasn't
really important, and my self esteem suffered a lot from it. Hindsight is great,
isn't it?
I'm now married
to an awesome guy, and we have a wonderful, blended family with four kids --
the oldest two have moved out on their own, and the youngest are in high school
and still living at home. Our dog, Rosie, is a wonderful soul that I feel we
were guided to find at the Humane Society, and you'd swear she's been
a part of our family since birth based on the way she fit in from day one.
My husband, Rob,
is a writer and had his first
book published this year! Both Rob and I are also involved in community
theater. Our favorite shows are usually musicals, since we love to sing, but
you'll also find us on the stage for a few non-musicals here and there.
Oh, and I tend to wear black ... a lot. :)
From the Beginning
The day after high
school graduation, I immediately started what would be a long and varied career
path. I always knew that I had an entrepreneurial spirit -- a feeling that was
fueled by the fact that my father has owned a business since the early '70s -- but didn't actually take the leap to pursue that path until many years later.
So, until I finally
woke up to the fact that I wasn't going to find financial freedom slaving away
for someone else's dream, I spent the next 25+ years searching for a "job"
that would make me happy and one that I would look forward to getting out of
bed for every morning. (I suppose the fact that I love to sleep until at least 8 or 9 made
that even more difficult!)
Light
at the End of the J.O.B. Tunnel
I wasn't content
to stay with one company very long -- I got bored very easily and wanted to
try new things. It wasn't until the mid-90s that I found something I stuck with
for almost eight years -- the longest job I've ever had -- as the advertising
manager for a fairly large real estate company.
Toward the end
of that eight years, having known long before that I could perform the duties
of the position in less than full-time hours, I approached the owner about scaling
back hours to allow me to pursue some freelance graphic design work. He agreed,
and that opened up a whole new world ... the home-based business.
Even though I've
continued with the graphic design occasionally since then, I did try a few more
jobs and a short stint as a partner in an already-established business (be sure
any future business partners share your vision!).
Fast forward to
the present, and you'll find a woman with a ton of experience. You name it,
I've probably done it -- even got my life coaching certification -- and after
30 years of working and searching, I'm exactly where I want (and was meant)
to be.
The
Law of Attraction
Thanks
to a lot of publicity, there aren't many people these days who haven't heard
of or seen the movie, The Secret. Whether you loved it or hated it, what
remains is the fact that it's hard to deny that the law of attraction plays a huge
part in our lives.
For
me, the path to where I am today began at a charity fitness event in 2000 when
I met someone who introduced me to the idea of 'creating your own reality'.
That man was Bob Doyle, who later went on to be one of the experts interviewed
in The Secret. At the time, it was a whole new concept, but it has changed
my life.
I've also attracted some phenomenal mentors into my life who have guided and supported me in my path to success. I believe having a coach and mentor is a key component for anyone who aspires to great things. Would Tiger Woods be where he is today without his coach? Jack Canfield speaks frequently of his mentor, W. Clement Stone, and attributes much of his current success to the fundamental success principles he was taught.
Why
I'm Here -- on MySpace and On This Planet
Have
you ever felt that you were called to do something great -- something that
would make a true impact in the lives of others and in the world as a whole?
It seems to be something many of us feel, some actually pursue, but few actually
find. Those that do find it inevitably discover a life filled with passion and
purpose, joy and happiness, and freedom and success.
I
think the most fulfilling life is one that gives you the freedom to pursue your
passions, both business and personal. I also strongly believe that the road
to health, wealth, and a happy life includes time to enjoy yourself and also
to serve others, and that being an entrepreneur is not an exclusive "club" open only to a select few.
So
I suppose that's where this all comes together. The good, the bad, and the ugly
(and there were negative times in my life as well as positive) brought me to
where I am today and helped form the person I am. I feel that everything in
our lives is part of a vast education far beyond any book learning.
I'm
finally at a place where I'm not trading time for dollars and am benefiting
from a business model where "leverage" is used to create a win-win for everyone.
Here's where the multiple streams of income come into play ... utilizing several
passions that keep the boredom factor at bay and allow me to keep working out
of my home office and not for someone else.
I've also met some incredible people, including one of my business partners, Werner Berger, who climbed Mt. Everest in May of 2007 at age 69. Click on the play button below to see part of Werner's truly INSPIRING story.
..
And let me just say that using the old-school methods of marketing is not
at all my style: making a list of all your friends and family (or should I say *former* friends and family), talking to everyone and anyone within hearing distance, buying leads and making cold calls. Makes my hair stand on end just thinking about it all.
While I LOVE talking to people, the thought of walking up to some stranger and trying to convince them that they should join my business makes me sweat profusely, and I want to just disappear into the floor. All of a sudden, I feel like that shy teenager all over again. Besides, joining my business may not always be in their best interest.
That's another reason I'm so happy these days -- using marketing methods like social networking and YouTube really fits into my passions, and it has created more success than any of those old school tactics ever could (and they're free).
The Future Is Now
This is where the rubber meets the road. Everyone
has a dream. Everyone has goals. What
are you doing to reach those goals? Where is your accountability? What's holding
you back? Who's in your corner, cheering you on every step of the way?
It's
all about choices. Each choice takes us closer to or further away from our goals.
What choices are you making today that will help you create the life you truly
want?
Here's something I keep by my computer and read several times per day:
"Everything I need is already in me."
It's true of everyone on this planet. The key is in believing it and in using your unique gifts.
What Now?
Now you know a little about me and why I created this profile. It's really changed my life, and I'd love to network and work with like-minded people and spread the word about how these new technologies can take your business to the next level.
If you're ready to move forward and explore the possibilities, get in touch. Message me here on MySpace if you like. My office number is 610 926 7749, and my Skype ID is deb.britt. I genuinely look forward to hearing from you.
