At the tender age of 19, Liverpool’s Kevin Williams (aka The Prototype) is making the sort of waves in the music industry that many older songwriters and producers can only dream of. Full of youthful passion, initiative and a dedication to the DIY Music ethos, Williams is currently working to establish a brand new label Viral Beat Recordings with colleague and publisher, 24-year- old Aedan Wolton (of Norwich, UK)..... A versatile and eclectic producer, The Prototype’s sound is a pioneering fusion of existing UK Urban sounds such as Grime, UK Hip Hop and the up-tempo styles Electro and Hard Dance. With mash-up flavours, huge basslines and flawless production techniques, Williams’ idiosyncratic style has helped him achieve significant airplay on radio stations in his native Liverpool as well as performances at The Brouhaha and Anthony Walker festivals and recently supporting KOF at the Liverpool O2 Academy..... Williams’ first release came at the impressive age of 15, when his remix of “Blue Room” by UK Hardcore’s legendary Scott Brown featured on an Evolved Records 12inch and a subsequent appearance on the compilation “Hardwired III.”.. At this point, Williams attracted the attention of both Just Another Label Ltd and Aedan Wolton’s Test Pilot Music Ltd, yielding several vinyl releases, the inception of Viral Beat Recordings and an ongoing project creating music for the film and television industries. More recently, the pseudonym ‘The Prototype’ emerged, signifying Kevin’s move from Hard Dance to a more Urban sound..... Entirely self-taught and independently styled, Williams is dedicated to working with fresh, unsigned talent from the Liverpool area as well as artists from around the UK. Recent projects include collaborations with Janiece Myers, Future and CEE, as well as a series of tracks and remixes for Liverpool’s finest urban act KOF. Further to this, Kev is eagerly awaiting the release of immensely influential British comedian Rik Mayall’s 2010 World Cup anthem ‘Noble England’ which will feature a remix produced by him... In addition to working alongside these fellow up-and-comers, Williams uses YouTube as a platform from which to share his tips, skill and resources with less experienced producers, delivering lessons and ‘How To’ information, garnered from his five years behind the production desk..... Williams is constantly refining The Prototype’s sound in a bid to further impact the UK Urban scene and achieve the all-important chart positions for his forthcoming releases.
