"VERMONT FALLEN" created by Students of the VT Norwich Military University
This is a film created by VT Norwich University students under the leadership of Prof. Bill Estill to honor our Vermont service members who have died during Iraqi/Enduring Freedom. Taken from the Norwich University website: “Estill approached students in his television production classes with the idea to make a documentary that would serve as a memorial to those fallen soldiers. The film would celebrate the lives of these Vermonters, through interviews with the friends and family members they left behind.”
Personally I am honored to have met and spent time with many of the families, and attend a viewing of the film with them a few months ago. It was indescribably touching and an experience I’ll cherish the rest of my life.
Below are five segments of “Vermont Fallen”. Included is the link to the YouTube site containing the segments; following that is a link to Norwich and the story surrounding the making of the film. Laura

24 JUNE 2007 ~ I've been fortunate to work for great agencies within the State of Vermont. The years I worked with the Vermont Veterans Affairs Office were incredible. I loved working with our returning service members, veterans and their families. I now work with the Vermont Division of Fire Safety. I've come to realize during the last four months working with firefighters that I am still working with veterans and service members. They sacrifice their lives everyday for our safety and security. I am so very honored to work with all of you, and the loyal support staff who work along side them.
I am also a very proud service member of the Vermont State Guard: http://www.vtguard.com/VSG/index.htm
THERE ARE MANY GREAT VIDEOS BELOW AS WELL AS A SLIDESHOW OF PHOTOS I'M EXTREMELY PROUD OF.
THANK YOU TO OUR VETERANS, OUR MILITARY SERVICE MEMBERS, OUR FIRE FIGHTERS, POLICE FORCES, THEIR FAMILIES AND SUPPORTIVE FRIENDS!
~ MOM'S (LAURA'S) DIARY AS OF JUNE 2006:
I work for a state military department/veterans affairs office.
I am honored and fortunate to work with our older veterans, our new veterans, returning service members, and their families.
I am the very Proud Mom of Adam, former 173d Airborne Brigade, currently 9th PSYOP BN (ABN) who is serving a 2nd tour in Iraq. Adam's 1st tour was with the 173rd AIRBORNE BRIGADE from March 2003 to 2004. Adam reenlisted for another six years in the Army while serving this last tour in Iraq.
And I am the very Proud Mom of Shannon, who until recently was a Conference Concierge at the Ritz Carlton in Half Moon Bay, CA. I love you Angels! Shannon & her other half, Mason, moved back to New England and plan to work for a Ritz Carleton here in New England, hopefully NY. Mason couldn't be more Perfect for my beautiful daughter. Mason graduated from the New England Culinary Institute & both are employed with the Ritz Carlton.
* 28 JULY 2006 ~ NOTE!!!: ADAM CALLED AT 2:02 EST TODAY FROM JFK AIRPORT IN NY; HE'S BACK IN THE US AFTER SERVING A SECOND TOUR IN IRAQ SINCE NOVEMBER 2005!
* EARLY AUGUST 2006 ~ WONDERFUL NEWS; ADAM IS BACK AT FT BRAGG!!! (I love you Honey!)
Shannon & Adam, I love you and again I'm so very proud of you. I'm honored and grateful to have you in my life.
* LATE AUGUST TO EARLY SEPTEMBER 2006 ~ I had the rare privilege to be with both my son Adam and daughter Shannon. It was the first time we've had the incredible opportunity to be together since March 2004 after Adam's first tour in Iraq. I was and am in heaven!
* OCTOBER 2006 ~ UPDATE: BOTH MASON AND SHANNON ARE NOW EMPLOYED WITH A RITZ CARLETON IN NEW YORK CITY! - I love you and know you'll both be successful. I'm so proud of each of you!
* CHRISTMAS 2006 ~ Adam, Shannon, myself, as well as Mason and his family had another rare opportunity to spend time together. This again was the 1st Christmas Adam, Shannon and I have been together since he just before Iraqi Freedom began. It was Wonderful!!! I Love Both So Much!!!! Mom
* NEW YEAR'S EVE 2006 - NEW YEAR 2007 ~ Adam and Shannon spent New Year's Eve with Mason in Time's Square and had a Once in a Lifetime experience. Adam visited Ground Zero while there. I remember Adam's reaction on September 11, 2001; he called me at my office from Vicenza Italy while with the 173rd Airborne Brigade. The frustration and pain he felt was in his voice, especially due to being out of the country when the attacks happened. I've heard this same frustration and pain from nearly every service member I’ve talked to who served during and after this horrific time in our US history. The Pride and Honor I feel for the bravery and reaction of our US emergency services, military, and our American citizens during and after is indescribable. THANK YOU to these Heroes!!!
~ I'm also the very Proud former Wife of Neil Boyle, who is an in-country Vietnam veteran, and the reason I do what I do today working with and supporting veterans and military service members. Neil shared with me the Hell our Vietnam service members and veterans experienced during the war, the appalling "welcome home" from our U.S., and same treatment for many years after. I pray we never repeat this behavior and that we honor, respect and appreciate the sacrifices they make and live with every day. I'm honored to have been Neil's wife, and the mother of our son and daughter. We have two incredible children (young adults) and our years together with them are the reason they are the young adults they are today:) Thank you Neil for our children, and "us" while we were together. I'll always love you. Laura
I'll always love this song as well ~
~THANK YOU AGAIN TO OUR FULL TIME U.S. MILITARY, ARMY & AIR NATIONAL GUARD, RESERVES, FIRE FIGHTERS, AND POLICE FORCE!!! I'm so Proud of all, and their Brave families, for what it takes in ALL of us to survive this time we all share.
~ To our families of our fallen service members ~ I can't begin to understand, and never want to know what you are living with everyday. The courage and strength you hold is beyond words.

Help support our troops by visiting the Military Troops Calendar Myspace page (on my top friends), or my Myspace page and click the Paypal button. Proceeds go to the Fisher House, Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund and allow us to send the calendars to the troops serving overseas free of charge to thank them for their service to our country. Our goal is to send 17,000 overseas by the end of this month. Thank you for your support!
