DAVID BAVAS (OUT NOW)
David Bavas is a singer-songwriter originally from the foothills of the Appalachians, now living in Seattle, Washington. With his self-titled debut album in 2005, David Bavas and his band The Down Comforter were a showcasing act at SXSW and their music was featured on NPR's All Songs Considered Open Mic. His sophomore release "Songs of Love, Death, and Trains" is slated for a street date of October 2, 2007. The new album showcases Bavas's dark voice and his songwriting that comes out of a small-town Americana upbringing. "Songs of Love, Death, and Trains" was recorded and mixed by Kevin Suggs, whose past credits include the Shins, Cat Power, and The Minus Five.
MABEL McGEE and PENNSYLVANIA SLIM (Summer 08)
Mabel McGee and Pennsylvania Slim are the monikers of Willow Scrivner and David Bavas in their alt-country-noir collaboration due out in spring 2008. Kevin Wood recorded the album and plays lap steel and guitar, bringing a Daniel Lanois-like sound to the mix, as well as a country twang. Willow, Kevin, and David met five years ago in a Seattle apartment building as next-door neighbors, and after some late nights with three guitars and a bottle of bourbon, the collaboration of Mabel McGee and Pennsylvania Slim was born. The result is a haunting record of sin, redemption, and classic country themes.
