About me:

Our mission is to teach by word and example the principles and practice of nonviolence, and to foster a community that addresses potentially violent situations with nonviolent solutions. We operate the "Providence Streetworkers" - an acclaimed intervention and outreach program; we teach nonviolence in the schools; and we train adults and youth in nonviolence through our "train the trainer" programs.

What We Do:

Keep a consistent presence on the streets.
Help youth who dropped out.
Placement back into school.
Connect youth back into programs. Advocate and provide fast-track service placement to youth in schools, recreation centers, health centers, and advocacy in courts.
Connect youth back with their families. Help resolve family conflicts.
Mediate neighborhood/youth conflicts.
Prevent crises before they happen.
Help youth make informed decision to prevent impending violence.
Provide confidentiality to youth, alternatives, and support.
Provide Nonviolent solutions, tools, and outlook to help mediate conflicts, set positive goals, and empower youth to achieve their potential.
Be available at all times to respond to crisis/24 hours a day.
Provide safety and prevent retaliation after a crisis occurs.
Use crisis to offer ways out of destructive life style.
Provide a bridge between neighborhood residents, businesses, and the youth.

Who I'd like to meet:

Young people who want to promote peace; young people who want to settle beefs; young people who want to live better.

Anyone who wants to teach nonviolence: we offer "Train the Trainers" courses several times a year.

Funders and donors who want to support our important work.

Peace workers and youth workers from around the world.
