In the ever-unfolding and expanding musical lives of this West Texas based band PROXIMO SONIDO opens the book on a new phase of their journey.
PROXIMO SONIDO is everything the band's name suggests and much more. Dramatic vocals and bold lyrics make the band's brawny-yet-intimate sound a radio staple for the years to come.
Aside from great music, they bring experience to the table. PROXIMO SONIDO’S members are young but seasoned guys who have been playing with West Texas-area bands, including the best of the best, since they were in their teens. In 2007, they formed PROXIMO SONIDO and began performing frequently across West Texas, specializing in cumbias and rancheras.
PROXIMO SONIDO is ready to make their music be heard with the release of their 2008 debut album “Por Primera Vez”. The album was produced by Tommy Ortega of CSP Records and consists of 10 songs, 8 of which are originals from singer-songwriter sensation Elias Barrera. “Por Primera Vez” is made up of 6 cumbias, 3 rancheras, and 1 easy listening tune. Drawn from elements in life every single track on the CD is distinctive. The album has real depth emotionally and musically and ranges from soulfully to upbeat, but each and every track is performed and sung from the heart. The album includes the hit single ‘Se Que Te Quiero’. Other original material consists of ‘No Voy a Llorrar’, ‘La Primera Vez’, ‘Sabado Noche’, ‘Vuelve a Mi’, ‘Que Casualidad’, ‘Liar’, and ‘Trucha Con La Cumbia’. ‘La Media Vuelta’ and ‘La Unica Estrella’ are some other old time favorites you can find on the CD.
Representing West Texas, PROXIMO SONIDO is made up of Elias Barrera - lead vocalist and accordion, Jesse Limones Jr - drums, Joe Garza – bajo sexto and vocals, Sammy Alvarez Jr - bass, and Fabian Limones – Percussion.
PROXIMO SONIDO is one of the hottest music acts to hit the scene and has gained lots of attention thru out West Texas
