Influences
Cats, cheese and cider; but not necessarily in that order...
Bands who have influenced us in one way or another include: Queen (the early stuff), Abba, Pulp, Iron Maiden (Steph is a big fan of Steve Harris), Invocal, Helen's Evil Twin, Led Zeppelin, Electric Light Orchestra (again, the early stuff), Roy Wood, Wizzard, Black Sabbath (can you detect the Midland's influences?), The Beautiful South, 10cc, Kate Bush, early Roxy Music, The Goodies, King Crimson, Jim Steinman's overblown epics, John Otway, Frank Zappa, The Divine Comedy, Sparks and of course, the mightly Spinal Tap. We salute you all.

We occasionally organise our own nights - Cabaret Krypt-Tonite - do you want to come out and play...?
The song Waiting by the Phone Box (from The Golden Age of Ballooning EP) has received air play on BBC Kent. The MySpace tracks Killer Squirrels and You Stole My Heart (So I Stole Your Leg) were recorded during rehearsals using a portable four-track recorder, hence the rather 'raw' quality.
Bringing cabaret show-tune sensibilities to the world of rock music, Danse Macabre's sound is characterised by contrasting twin lead vocals and bass-driven melodies.
Ash vocalises with great gusto and is becoming a dab hand at the theremin. Taylor sings, plays guitar and violin; not only here but also with rock/punk/folkists Helen's Evil Twin. Steph plays bass reasonably well, synthesiser, guitar and trumpet not well at all; and also looks after this MySpace page. Helen (the eponymous punk rocker of Helen's Evil Twin) hits drums and cymbals, throws sticks at Taylor when she makes bad jokes, and generally keeps us all in time. Julie is the damn fine percussionist on our 2008 EP.
The Prozakville County Collective came to the lower dimensions the long way round, taking in fifteenth-century Romania and 1930's Berlin on the way. A stint doing the musical hall circuit in London to make ends meet led to the formation of the alternative goth-rock cabaret outfit Danse Macabre. Our subsequent attempt to return to present-day Prozakville was not to be; a failure in our extra-dimensional transportation has stranded us in early twenty-first-century London, where we are having to start our musical careers again from scratch. See you soon!
Meanwhile, here are a few pictures...
