Herencia De Mi Tambó Production was created by Nelson Ramirez and Vivian Sostre with the interest of preserving our Afro-Boricua Roots. Now we have team up with Marcos Peñaloza Pica, and some friends from Loiza, Puerto Rico, and we have organized a Bomba Percussion and Dance workshop especially for each and every one to learn the history, traditions and customs from Loiza.
The workshop will be presented by Marcos Peñaloza Pica, he is the director and founder of the folkloric company of Loiza and singer of the Hermanos Ayala; Gladys Rivera, is the professor and founder of the folkloric ballet Mayombe of Loiza; Maribella Burgos, is a dance instructor and a professional bomba dancer; and Jose Pizarro, is a music professor, director and composer of the folkloric group of Bomba Siglo XXI. All with more than 25 years of experience in folkloric music and the bomba from Loiza Puerto Rico."
The Bomba Percussion and Dance Workshop will run from 2:30 pm until 6:30 pm. Please note that it’s a 4 hour workshop and that there’s a $35.00 admission charge. Space is limited, so advance purchase of tickets is required.
In addition a traditional Bombazo will start at 8:30 pm- 1:30 am, suggested donation of $10.00 per person. The music will be so hot, I guarantee you it will put you in touch with your ancestors.
The Bomba workshop and Bombazo will be held at the Bruckner Bar & Grill, Located at 2412 3rd Avenue, Bronx, New York 10454. At The Bruckner Bar & Grill you can eat, they offer an American cuisine menu. Entrees range from $5 - 19; and there will be a cash bar.
