I am an odd creature. I have always been ashamed of that. No longer ashamed, but proud to not be a cookie-cutter match to anyone.
Music
Every type of music moves me, unfortunately. I am a classically trained pianist, so forced to love the dead composers since age 3. However, enjoy each mood that different musical performances inevitably provokes.
Movies
I go to live theatre mostly. That is to participate and to feel affected.
Movies, hmmm, I just want them to make me smile. They do. Sometimes even when they did not mean to. I do find irony to be the funniest thing in the world.
Television
None
Books
A ridiculous mixture of books fills to overflowing my numerous shelves. I often opt for a reading selection that suits my mood. Simple, light-hearted and always ending in a marriage must only be on those days I am silly and thrive on Jane Austen's slice of life. Only on the darkest of days, I inevitably find Shakespeare's tragedies. And, of course, there are those times when nothing fits, so my Bible soothes all, cheers all, and reminds of gains not losses. I once was tricked into admitting that the entire Harry Potter series was intriguing. Ah, 10 year old daughters can be very scolding at times!
Heroes
Three people who came into the world unwanted, abused, neglected and then taken from each other while still all under age 3. They have survived things that most adults do not even understand. My heroes are those kind-hearted, forgiving and gentle people who accepted being adopted with no choice in the matter and have grown into beautiful individuals. I know that most endeavour to meet their own heroes one day. I see mine each day and am blessed by the fact that they call me "Mom."
