Sounds Like
We have an original sound with a James Brown and Tower of Power horn feel, with a Chicago swinging groove and a swampy crawl all in one. Just and all around great sound!
Pryor Baird & The Deacons are a solid five piece band whose music is powerful and real. This guitar driven band is led by Pryor Baird, who is accompanied by the “The Deacons” who happen to be the best band around. The Horn section, aka “The Brasstatoots” are led by the musical director, George "Godfather" Pandis, an icon in the brass world. To his left is the ever so graceful and precise Rene' “The Cat” Blair. This man is one with his sax! And of course, the rhythm section. That fat hallowed sound comes from the man on the four string Fender bass, Robert "Dirtie Bertie" Chetwood, and his sidekick, the engine room, is none other than Matt Gittelson.
Horn section? What’s that? Well, if you have not given your soul the pleasure to indulge in the feeling and the sounds of brass instruments… you should go and listen to Pryor Baird & The Deacons!
These guys aren’t just playing The Blues, they're PLAYIN' THE BLUES!!!!!!
This is an art form that is on the brink of extinction, and they are keeping it alive by putting their blood, sweat, tears, heart, and soul into this music for their pleasure and for your enjoyment.
So do yourself a favor and take a friend out and listen. You will not be disappointed.
