The first era of Psilenus began with its inception. Psilenus entered the world in the year 2002 c.e. Within the next year, the turbulent formation process would eject some members and bring in some new ones. The line-up solidified in the summer of 2003, when Greg Lang (vocals), Jay Robken (guitar), Matt Haaga (bass guitar), and Dan Balsinger (drums) met in a small house on the wrong side of the river in Lawrence, Kansas. Dan, Matt, and Jay were there to interview and audition Greg for the recently vacated lead vocalist's position. After two days of talks and jam sessions, the band was at long last complete. So ended the first era of Psilenus.
For most of the next two years, Psilenus would have many ups and downs. They began writing and developing a new breed of rock music in their small basement practice space. The songs grew loud and complex, passionate and intelligent. In that small basement room, something big had begun. The sound that emerged was melodic yet driving, rhythmically intricate and lyrically enlightened, tribal and jazzy. They played shows here and there, and had many tough learning experiences regarding the finer points of stage performance. But finally, everything seemed to be getting in line. It was here that the Second era of Psilenus ended, and the Third era began.
Now, Psilenus plays out around the Lawrence/KC area with a sharpened and explosive stage show (replete with wit, energetic melodies, and thundering rhythms). They are constantly writing new music, recording seasoned ideas, and building a fan base at the increasingly more frequent shows they put on. They have also made a few endeavors outside of the region, and with perserverance (and a bit of luck) should be off to different parts of the country to spread their infectious groove on a more regular basis. You, dear listener/reader, are invited to wherever we take things next.

I tried demanding you bastards in Aviano, Italy but it kept giving me an error. I say make a trip overseas, these crazy people out here love non-rap/pop music. I think that is the only thing good I can say about Italy... Wait, the wine here is the shit... everything else I'll pass on though.
nice to see you fearlessly play all your material tonight, tho it was a meager crowd it was an excellent show... thought I'd let you know I'm throwing a pajama party on the 26th of this month, I see the band has the night off so come kick back some brews and enjoy the company of the ladies in their jammies... oh yes! oh, oh yes!
hey guys..just thought i would drop in and see how things are going on the show front....still determined to make it to one where i can actually see you play. :)
Whoo!! This Saturday (3/3) is someone's birthday! If you'll be in the 316 vicinity then you should totally come out to the show and help us celebrate Rachel's birthday! There will be dancing ninjas, explosions, things on fire, bodies flying, campfire songs, face melting rock, 10 Sugar Charlie, Stars Go Cold, Order 66, Same Sick Feeling, and one birthday cake. We'd LOVE to see you there if you could make it out!!
Wonderful show last night. I still think you should have played outside though? It was so nice out. Thanks again for playing the show and I can't wait for the next one.

Good luck in the battle!!
I'm not able to go to your concerts but I'm doing what I can to keep myself busy here. Just saw a concert last weekend featuring Lacuna Coil. Tool is coming here in mid November and the Red Hot Chili Peppers are coming sometime soon. They aren't anything compared PSILENUS!!!
It will be good to get back home. I'm having too much fun here in Italy though! Plus it costs a ton of $$ to fly back to the states from here. That's drinkin money yo!
