Nov. 25th --- The debut 7" single by Montreal punk sensations DEAD WIFE (a co-release between Psychic Handshake and our friends at the new Montreal label No Vacation) is being mastered by James Flames as we speak. It should be out by the beginning of 2010. We are really excited about this release and it should coincide with the release of our forthcoming TONSTARTSSBANDHT 7" single.
Both DEAD WIFE and TONSTARTSSBANDHT are among the most exciting and fresh sounding new bands to come out of Montreal in the last couple of years, and we can't wait to get these records out. We'll be putting up some tracks from both releases in the next couple of weeks. Next up for Psychic Handshake after is a single by Southern California punks LE FACE (who just released a new 12" on Tic Tac Totally), which we are super stoked for. Stay tuned for more details......

Take this for hyperbole if you will, but Punk Holograms is a mindblowing album, and one of the best debut LP's in recent memory. Hailing from the unlikely locale of Edmonton, Alberta (one of the coldest, most northern cities of over 1 million people in the entire world), The Wicked Awesomes! have been cultivating their brand of "subarctic frozen glü-wave" for almost three years now, releasing a split 7" with Montreal's The O Voids, and their debut single, "Information Entropy," on Almost Ready Records last year (the latter of which sold out of its first pressing almost immediately). What you have here is the product of five young dudes who are like a virtual cool sounds encyclopedia of stellar punk, garage, psych, art rock and new wave influences. A real product of the "download generation," if their ever was one. There are so many potential hits on this record, its unreal. Think of the Black Lips playing Daydream Nation-era Sonic Youth filtered down through Devo and The United States of America, and you're starting to scratch the surface, but over the course of 13 tracks and 36 minutes, Punk Holograms carves out a vibe thats all its own.

Absolutely killer four song 45 RPM 12" debut by a Montreal collective led and masterminded by Choyce (aka - Roy Vucino, formerly of CPC Gangbangs, Les Sexareenos, Daylight Lovers and Les Enfants Sauvages, just to name a few of his many groups). Brewing for several years prior to CPC Gangbangs untimely demise, RED MASS delivers on the promise of the Gangbangs artier and more progressive moments without losing one ounce of the ferocity or catchiness they were known for. This might very well be the best thing we’ve heard to date from Choyce, but its only the beginning. The scope and potential of Red Mass is enormous. These four songs offer a brief, exhilarating glimpse of their vision.

PSY-001 - THE NYMPHETS - Feels Like Motherfuckers 7"
The debut 7" from one of Montreal's best bands in recent years (sadly now in the process of full time relocation to NYC) is a fabulous two song affair of trashy garage punk heavily influenced by the pop sensibilities of late 70s/early 80s British punk and power pop. The A-Side, "Feels Like Motherfuckers," blasts out of the gates with a relentless buzz saw guitar attack and alternating male and female vocals that recall the glory days of early 90s Pacific coast garage punk. The B-Side, "Bekki Anne," changes things up with an up tempo lo-fi power pop tune that is as sweet as it is catchy. Fans of Supercharger, Television Personalities, The (pre-Lookout) Donnas, The Undertones, Fe Fi Fo Fums, The Wax Museums and Forgotten Rebels will likely give this plenty of repeated spins.
