Psychometry is an atmospheric, melodic metal band composed of musicians experienced in an array of different musical styles. Utilizing symphonic and electronic arrangements, Psychometry hopes to explore the wide variety of the world's music, adding each element to the song-writing process. Although each member brings unique and influential composition to the band, Psychometry works as a cohesive unit to express life's different emotions from song to song. It is Psychometry's desire to become known as a collection of composers rather than falling into a specific genre of music.

With a stunning combined 140 years of musical training, the musicians behind Psychometry have sought the highest level of musical perfection since childhood. Crossing continents, race, and gender these performers represent the undeniable power of music. The audience is drawn into a complex tapestry of sounds, melodies, rhythms, thematic strings, built on the backbone of intense percussion, and a timeless story of the struggle between good and evil.

Psychometry took a life of its own and swept unlikely members up in its wake in an effort to collaborate together from across the country and around the world.

Mike Smith’s collaboration began with the composition of Over the Son. Psychometry members knew that in composing such a difficult song, they had just thrown the gauntlet and must choose a professional drummer who not only could play complex rhythms, but remain simultaneously heavy and tasteful. They made a short list of dream drummers to work with, Mike being at the top of the list due to his pioneering drumming.

Upon receiving Into the Silent Ocean, Elevated, Macabre Lullaby and Over the Son, Mike agreed to add his skills to the recording of Psychometry’s The Four Points. During recording Mike remarked that he agreed to participate because of the quality of the songwriting and was attracted to being in a project that breaks down musical barriers. The blending of so many styles to create a new sound allows Psychometry to cross genres at will. From death metal to ambient, industrial to pop, western classical to eastern world music Psychometry has the ability to perform an appropriate well planned set at any venue, festival or occasion.

** Mike Smith performed drums on all tracks with the exception of Love & Flesh which was recorded by Brent Smith. All tracking was recorded by Psychometry and Bert Fackler at Forgotten Prophets Studio in December 2008. The Four Points is finished and will be available for sale in May of 2010.
