Yukio Mishima was one of the most prolific and celebrated writers that ever lived, and this is his only film. It is also a disturbing example of life imitating art since it depicts a gruesome act of HaraKiri that Mishima himself would re-enact four years after filming, forgoing pig-guts for the theatrical glory of his own.
In the original version of the film the musical score is program music by Wagner off a crackly old 78, but I've taken it upon myself to desecrate this fine piece of classic cinema and re-score the entire film with original music.
