Influences
THE PSYCHOTRONIC FILM SOCIETY screens wild and rare indie, cult and foreign movies every Wednesday in the intimate environment of THE SENTIENT BEAN COFFEEHOUSE (on the Southern end of Forsyth Park).
This week, Wed., December 16th, we continue our ongoing weekly series of oddball, underrated or overlooked films from around the world with 1973’s TRAPPED!
This simple, straightforward, nail-biting shocker wowed audiences back when it was first screened on U.S. TV (and later in theaters around the world under the alternate title DOBERMAN PATROL).
Mr. BARBARA STREISAND (and father of his modern day movie hunk JOSH BROLIN), JAMES BROLIN stars as Chuck Brenner, a good-hearted father who’s mugged and knocked unconscious in the bathroom of a massive department store while shopping. He awakens after business hours all alone, but surrounded by vicious overnight security dogs who’ve been trained to kill!
What follows is a tense game of cat-and-mouse as Brolin tries not only to escape the locked store but simply to survive against a gang of bloodthirsty beasts!
Don’t miss this forgotten gem directed by the screenwriter of the classic horror flick DARK NIGHT OF THE SCARECROW.
Seating begins at 7:30 pm for ALL-AGES.
See you there!

About me:
LOOK TO THE LEFT FOR TRAILERS AND CLIPS FROM UPCOMING FILMS!
For 6 years now, The Psychotronic Film Society of Savannah has served as the area's only non-profit film society dedicated solely to screening cult, indie, experimental and fringe cinema from around the world. They specialize in programming two types of films - those never before released in the USA, and those which have, but which likely have never been seen by the average viewer in a public setting.
Every Wednesday night, they show an amazingly diverse selection of
features in the intimate, 50-seat, screening room environment of the award-winning Sentient Bean Coffeehouse and Vegetarian Restaurant on the Southern end of Forsyth Park - and occasionally screen major films on 35mm at the historic 1,200-seat Lucas Theatre for The Arts, and on video at the Jepson Center for The Arts' 220-seat theater and the Jewish Education Alliance's 300-seat auditorium. To date, these selections have included first-run films on the festival circuit, little-known gems from decades past, and extraordinarily rare "lost" films which exist only in the hands of diehard private collectors.
Whether these are horror or sci-fi flicks, dramas, comedies, mysteries,
thrillers, film noirs, musicals, martial arts movies, concert films,
documentaries, "grindhouse" pictures, foreign films or avant-garde,
experimental art-house pics, as long as they're good examples of their
genre, The PFS shows them all!
The PFS has been profiled on Georgia Public Broadcasting, in glossy culture
mags such as Murmur, The South and Savannah Magazine, and in newspapers such as Connect Savannah and the Savannah Morning News. It was even recommended in the New York Times as a "must-do" event while visiting the town's Historic Downtown.
We've also been instrumental in The Sentient Bean being named "Best Indie Film Venue In Town" by the readers Connect Savannah.
Join us for some of the strangest and most enjoyable films you never knew existed!
Who I'd like to meet:
All sorts of nice people who appreciate intriguing and unusual cinema, and who see the value in not talking during movies. And Alejandro Jodorowsky, Crispin Glover and The Beaver Kid.

Wow, the guy is a real suave secret agent, he arranges his tie when he gets inside the villain's lair... but wait, it was just simulation... and not giving his opponents loaded guns was level James T. Kirk and the Kobiashu Maru gambit...
I'm gonna try to make it to Wednesday night's show! It is against my religion to miss a R.R.M. flick! By the way, did you hear that "Black Dynamite" got picked up at Sundance?
The Wormhole is now booking for 2009! Contact via email for more details. Happy Holidays! - Libitina
Open Mic Weekend Friday 12-26 6pm - 3am and Saturday 12-27 8pm - 3am. To sign up visit www. wormholebar. com
The Wormhole is a new music venue in Savannah, Georgia. We're a friendly, open minded music club offering a stage to local and touring acts. We plan to host shows spanning a variety of genres loosely tied under the "alternative" heading. We are also not limiting ourselves to music, and encourage performers in theater, comedy, and art to also inquire about booking at the Wormhole.
Is "Terror by Night" one of those Hammer Films? I watched a Sherlock one of theirs (The Hound of the Baskervilles) and there was no dog until 5 minutes til the end. There were wenches, however. Very important.
It was great to see you at the Target on Thursday, Jim. I'm going to look a bit closer into the mystery of "The Black Cloak" and will get back to you. Here's hoping you feel better.
Great Jim Reed!!! Yes, "The Questor Tapes" is a small classic, but in my opinion the best of Rodenberry's failed 70's pilots is "SPECTRE", a cross between Dr. Strange & Sherlock Holmes, with Robert Culp at his best ( short of Bob & Carol Ted & Alice ):
