THE PSYCHOTRONIC FILM SOCIETY screens wild and rare indie, cult and foreign movies every Wednesday in the intimate environment of THE SENTIENT BEAN COFFEEHOUSE (Southern end of Forsyth Park).

Our next screening is Wednesday, July 15th, 2009, AT 8 pm.

It’s the ultra-rare, low-budget, Beat Poetry-inspired, 1963 B&W sexploitation drama FIVE MINUTES TO LOVE, a "lost" film that initially popped up on Drive-In screens and in a few sleazy cinemas in major cities before disappearing for good.

Known primarily as the first-ever film appearance of the surprisingly sultry RUE McCLANAHAN (TV’s GOLDEN GIRLS) - as a drug-addicted prostitute who lives in a metal shack behind a junkyard - it’s one hell of a weird, self-indulgent flick.

Think of it as some bizarre cross between a standard-issue, raunchy exploitation flick and a talky, high-concept JOHN CASSAVETTES indie drama.

For a so-called "sexploitation picture" there’s no real nudity, just plenty of freaky dialogue and go-for-the-Oscar performances from a handful of mediocre, unknown actors who seem either oblivious that they’re making a piece of trash cinema, or completely convinced that this is brainy, deep stuff.

One of the most mesmerizing celluloid oddballs we’ve ever uncovered, FIVE MINUTES TO LOVE finds believable, nuanced performances right alongside nonsensical, pot-head gibberish - all set to a wild, intrusive jazz soundtrack. Get with the program and expose yourself to a TRULY far-out movie!

Seating begins at 7:30 pm for ALL-AGES. Film starts at 8 pm. Organic food, drinks and popcorn will be available.

See you there!

About me:

LOOK TO THE LEFT FOR TRAILERS AND CLIPS FROM UPCOMING FILMS!

For 6 years now, The Psychotronic Film Society of Savannah has served as the area's only non-profit film society dedicated solely to screening cult, indie, experimental and fringe cinema from around the world. They specialize in programming two types of films - those never before released in the USA, and those which have, but which likely have never been seen by the average viewer in a public setting.

Every Wednesday night, they show an amazingly diverse selection of features in the intimate, 50-seat, screening room environment of the award-winning Sentient Bean Coffeehouse and Vegetarian Restaurant on the Southern end of Forsyth Park - and occasionally screen major films on 35mm at the historic 1,200-seat Lucas Theatre for The Arts, and on video at the Jepson Center for The Arts' 220-seat theater and the Jewish Education Alliance's 300-seat auditorium. To date, these selections have included first-run films on the festival circuit, little-known gems from decades past, and extraordinarily rare "lost" films which exist only in the hands of diehard private collectors.

Whether these are horror or sci-fi flicks, dramas, comedies, mysteries, thrillers, film noirs, musicals, martial arts movies, concert films, documentaries, "grindhouse" pictures, foreign films or avant-garde, experimental art-house pics, as long as they're good examples of their genre, The PFS shows them all!

The PFS has been profiled on Georgia Public Broadcasting, in glossy culture mags such as Murmur, The South and Savannah Magazine, and in newspapers such as Connect Savannah and the Savannah Morning News. It was even recommended in the New York Times as a "must-do" event while visiting the town's Historic Downtown.

We've also been instrumental in The Sentient Bean being named "Best Indie Film Venue In Town" by the readers Connect Savannah.

Join us for some of the strangest and most enjoyable films you never knew existed!

Who I'd like to meet:

All sorts of nice people who appreciate intriguing and unusual cinema, and who see the value in not talking during movies. And Alejandro Jodorowsky, Crispin Glover and The Beaver Kid.

I'm gonna try to make it to Wednesday night's show! It is against my religion to miss a R.R.M.
flick! By the way, did you hear that "Black Dynamite" got picked up at Sundance?

I noticed that the translation of the title shown here is "The Murderer of the Clan".
Is this film in German?

The Wormhole is a new music venue in Savannah, Georgia. We're a friendly, open minded music club offering a stage to local and touring acts. We plan to host shows spanning a variety of genres loosely tied under the "alternative" heading. We are also not limiting ourselves to music, and encourage performers in theater, comedy, and art to also inquire about booking at the Wormhole.

Is "Terror by Night" one of those Hammer Films? I watched a Sherlock one of theirs (The Hound of the Baskervilles) and there was no dog until 5 minutes til the end.
There were wenches, however. Very important.

Great Jim Reed!!! Yes, "The Questor Tapes" is a small classic, but in my opinion the best of Rodenberry's failed 70's pilots is "SPECTRE", a cross between Dr. Strange & Sherlock Holmes, with Robert Culp at his best ( short of Bob & Carol Ted & Alice ):

http://en. wikipedia. org/wiki/Spectre_(film)

Would love to be at the Bean for the "Q Tapes" though.
Send Kristin my love, keep on rockin'!!!

rage films - a world wide feature film ....

Jun 2 2008 2:38 AM

Thanks for your friendship we need you to search using-
Rage Search
every search will raise money for our charity and will help us to make the 5million feature film possible.

Premise, 5 million people searching just once would enable us to give people the opportunity to be part of
this film.

There are many ways you can be involved in this film,

spreading the word we need many many friends and they need to search...

so blog the film, digg it, tell your local, national newspapers....

Contributing music, costumes, being part of the crew, cast, contributing ideas for the story....

Thanks O.
