Pedro Tenreiro is - surely - a living legend of the Portuguese Dj scene of the last 25 years.
His outstanding career blends itself with what most relevant happened in the dance music within that period.
His past as a Dj is - to say the least - incredible: his name, mostly as a resident Dj is connected to all the relevant underground clubs that operated within the portuguese territory in the last 25 years: Lux (Lisbon), No Sense, La La La, Lux (the first ever!!!), Industria, Boundi Cafe, Radical Foz, Cais 447, Urban Sound, Trintaeum (where he kept a monthly residency for 5 years), Aniki Bobo (resident for 10 years!!!), all of the former in Porto. But the list of clubs and bars where Pedro have spread his exquisite taste and incredible musical knowledge goes on and on: Iodo, Griffon's, Alfandega, Swing, Rock's, Fragil, Twins, Pitch, Passos Manuel, Maus Habitos, 333 (London) are only some of those places.
He is the head of A&R for Nortesul, a portuguese seminal label, and also founds time to produce tracks as Dancin' Days wich came out in labels as Noid (owned by The Idjut Boys and where people like Harvey, Dimitri from Paris, Dj D, Chicken Lips, Akwaaba, Mudd, Thick as Thieves also have records printed) and Big Bear (Steve Kotey's re-edit operation), before the album "First re-edit collection" was issued on his own imprint; as Mr. Spock with Alex Fx , on portuguese cult labels Kami'Khazz (created by himself and Rui Miguel Abreu of the Loop/Bloop stable) and Nylon where "Words and Poets" a 2003 Worldwide Winner and Gilles Peterson favourite that received support from guys such as Kruder & Dorfmeister, Rainer Truby or LTJ Bukem came out; and as Illmatic+Phaser, with portuguese biggest Hip Hop producer Serial, whose "For the love of soul" e.p. was very well received by specialized magazines as Musik, Mixmag and JockeySlut.
On the last 4 years, Pedro still found the time to run the Club de Funk monthly parties (produced by Groob, a Dj Agency and Event Promoter Company which he owns alongside Joao Cari), where you may find him sharing the Dj booth with legends such as Keb Darge, Ian Wright, Snowboy, James Trouble, Gerald Jazzman and Fryer.
Tá aí a nova aventura do Capitão Funk na luta contra a música de mau gosto. Desta vez, com uma passagem por Rockytown. Enjoy it @ ruifelix.podomatic.com
As your friend we like to inform you exclusively about our next release: Gabriel & Castellon - Soul ft. Jerique Allan, Premiere; available on Beatport since today!
->
Soul, as the title is self explanatory, is a deep subtle soulful gem complimented with haunting goose bump creating string arrangements and pounding beats which creates a sinister, yet uplifting vibe. To top it all off, Soul has been given the hypnotic vocals of one of the best kept secrets in vocal county, Jerique Allan. Jerique may not be one of the most prolific vocalists around but his vocal work speaks for itself. So far, Jerique has worked with acclaimed producers like Fedde Le Grand, Robbie Rivera, Jean Claude Ades, D.O.N.S., Sandy Rivera and DJ Jeroenski.
Remixes comes courtesy of that other incredible duo Sunnery James & Ryan Marciano (Dirty Dutch Music), Little Mountain Recordings finest Muzikjunki and Rotterdam based house producer Andy Callister. Enjoy!
