Originally formed as a creative outlet for two young musicians, The Periodic Table of Funk has risen to a level those two musicians never imagined. Formed in late 2005 by Guitarist Ben Weiss and Bassist/Flautist Ben Turner, The Periodic Table of Funk (PToF) has had nearly three years of experience playing together. The original lineup has changed (for the better) over the years, evolving from a high school funk band to a more musically mature and experimental group of professional musicians drawing influence from almost every genre. The current lineup features four young musicians (including the Ben's) from the University of Utah each majoring in Jazz Performance or Jazz Composition. The result is a professional, solid, energetic, and visionary powerhouse for danceable grooves and psychedelic moods. The spontaneous nature of their performances is what sets the PToF apart from most groups. The combination of original compositions, "refunkified" jazz tunes, and relentlessly creative group and solo improvisation makes for a totally unique live experience. Following in the footsteps of jazz musicians of the past, they never play one song the same way twice.
