..Public Transit Recordings is extremely proud to present "Variations in Time: A Jazz Perspective" compiled by one of Montreal's finest Djs Andy Williams.
The 13 artists Andy hand-picked to grace Variations do more justice bringing the essence of the "Great Black Music" to life. Whether hip hop, spoken word, soul, free or funky, the diverse artists on this PTR compilation share common ground in the Nile of jazz. Some of the artists include Amiri Baraka, Clifton Joseph, Avram Fefer Trio, Rainer Wrens and Billy Bang plus more. All proceeds will be going towards the Tyndale St. George Community Centre in Montreal, a place that is close to the heart of Andy.

If you come to Toronto you'll see that we are one of the few cities with a public transit system that uses buses, streetcars and subways.. In one journey you could ride all three..
and most definitely there is a lot of ground to cover.. the TTC (www.ttc.ca) is essential for every day life in the City..whether you're commuting to work... or maybe digging for gems at Ricks @ Main&Gerrard, then you might want to grab a dosa in Little India, or look for that new but rare omniverse 7inch @ playderecord on yonge.. then head to the AGO cinematheque and catch a rare foreign flick on the big screen.. after that head up to St. Clair and Vaughan for a roti from alberts real jamaican.. then jump on the Vaughan Rd..90 up to Eglinton West and start combing through the record stores in Little Jamaica, then its off to islington and albion north west of the city for a nice veggie thali and say what up to the Rexdale massive!!.. Thats what I call a full days work!! No doubt.. make sure you recharge the batteries on your walkman, and grab a metropass or a day pass.... That's the vibe of PTR, when we started to label back in 1998, we (Moonstarr and the Crew) were just buggin out on the train listening to all the hype demos we were getting.. heads like Abacus, Don Ray, Rosina, Murr, Adam Carty, Audix, Getnice/Genetic, Archetype/Monochrome, Todd Sines.. these Cats put it down for real!! Code416 emerged and layed the blueprint for what was to follow.. Since then we've collaborated and hung out with so many talented and gifted musicians, producers, djs and artists.. peoble like LAL, Marc Mac, Somatik, Voice, Eluna, Maxelle, Scott C, Andy Williams, More or Les, Rahim, Tashish, Prasad Bidaye, Vision, Archive, M-Rock, Jugular, Gurpreet, Brian Gillespie, Ashwin Tumne and the WYEP Afronaughts, Rushhour, Faces Crew, Sonar Kollektiv, Technoir, Elemental Crew, TheCyberkrib, Goya Music, Michael Reinboth, Michael Rutten..I could go on for days.. .. Broken Beat, Techno, Hip Hop, D&B, downbeat.. we don't care music is music.. as a collective we can do more, just like mass transit!!
