First, they are individual writers, songwriters and musicians. They hail literally from one end of Kentucky to the other. They each have their individual accomplishments and they are all fans of each other's work.
Then, they are The Cosmic Mamaws (Jessie Lynne, Kate, Anne & George Ella) and The Doolittles (Jason & Silas) who play diverse styles of music for various and sundry circumstances.
And, finally, they are Public Outcry when they join forces to educate people everywhere about the devastation that a vast, violent and vicious practice known as mountaintop removal mining is wreaking on their beloved Commonwealth. Their collective mission is to educate people inside and outside their home state about what is happening there - it's occuring right now and on a huge scale. They want citizens to be well enough informed to convince the government to enforce regulations to stop mountaintop removal immediately...or be replaced by representatives who will.
Public Outcry's lively one-hour concerts seamlessly combine artistic genres by blending song, visual imagery and the spoken word. Their work is featured on SONGS FOR THE MOUNTAINTOP and in MISSING MOUNTAINS (CD and anthology, both sponsored by Kentuckians for the Commonwealth). Their voices have echoed in hollers, on college campuses and into the Capitol Rotunda itself, carrying the message from the highest peaks to the flattest river bottoms that mountaintop removal is everyone's problem because "we all live downstream."

Thanks for the add! I applaud you guys and your efforts! MTR is something every Appalachian should take action against!
I want my children and grandchildren to know the smell of the Appalachian Mountains in the morning and to know how slowly it is that evening creeps in up into the hollers. I want them to know what it is to walk on the same mountain their ancestors walked on.
How will they ever know how breathtakingly beautiful it is to stand on a mountain ridge and look out at the other mountains and valleys surrounding them if all the mountains are leveled and the valleys filled in; all in the name of King Coal?
Thanks for adding your fellow Kentuckians and also thank you for the environmental awareness your music helps to bring. If we could participate sometime at a fest etc with you, please let us know.
