| General | The Calhoun County Animal Shelter was established in 1976 as a result of the efforts of Susan Levens Phillips. Her vision has been realized in a shelter that is self-supporting and not affiliated (except through contract) with any municipality. The Calhoun County Animal Shelter is a member of the following organizations:
Alabama Humane Federation
National Animal Control Association
American Humane Organization
Humane Society of the United States
Hours of Operation
Mon, Tues, Thurs, Fri from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
and
Saturday from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m.
We are closed to the public on Wednesday and Sunday.

About me:
The Calhoun County Humane Society d/b/a The Animal Shelter will no longer be receiving funds from The Calhoun County Commission. Beginning October 1, 2005, The Calhoun County Commission will be operating an Animal Control Impound Facility located in Anniston. Without the support of the county we are in danger of not being able to provide services for the animals of Calhoun County. We must now rely on the support of individuals in our community. You will make a difference for the abused, neglected, injured and homeless animals needing a second chance. There are 111,616 citizens residing in Calhoun County. Would you please be one of the individuals to sacrifice the price of one dinner out per month? Please let us know if you would like to be a committed donor.
