Just ending each day successfully. Without hurting anyone and making those that love me happy and proud of me. I went back to school after raising my family and am now employed, for the first time in my adult life. I love my job and still feel so grateful that someone wanted to hire me, even though I had no experience, what so ever.
My family means more to me than anything. My Mom & Dad, my son's, my daughter-in-law (who, each in their own way, have taught me so much about myself) and my Grandchildren, who have the sweetest voices I've ever heard in my life..The day they were born, I realized where my life had been heading for all of these years.
I'm quite disappointed with the way this world is turning out, so I do my bit to keep my life sweet and good. That is success, to me. Just doing the best that I can, everyday of my life...
Music
There are so many types of music I like. I don't like opera. NO No No. Rock and Roll is first of course. I've always been an AC/DC fan. And to the disappointment of many who know me, I LOVE Angus Young (just can't help it)... Pink Floyd, A lot of the modern stuff, too. This will be a big list when I get done.........Tom Petty, John Mellencamp,Stevie Ray Vaughn {Who I never appreciated until I turned 40}, Led Zeppelin. I love this song that Kelly Clarkson did called "Beautiful Disaster". I never understood why it wasn't on some number one list. One of my newest discoveries is Clarence Bekker..He's so soulful. Patsy Cline and Dido, Sade...I've had Tori Amos' "Scarletts Walk" for 2 years. Just recently, for something new, I stuck it in the CD Player and I was DUMBSTRUCK by her songs. I can't believe I left it laying around for 2 years.. What a waste of 2 years. She's amazing in her quirky little way. I love her music. Glory Box by Portishead...Is so HOT..as well as the rest of their stuff..
Movies
"Somewhere in Time" "Dr.Zhivago" Napoleon Dynamite is my Hero. French films never disappoint me. Romeo and Juliet{the 60's version} Angel's and Insects was great. Very well done and little known. The Graduate, The Conversation, (exceptional!!!), The Good Shepard, Betty Davis movies. The Last Days of Chez Nouz and I can't even really explain why I love this movie so much. A Street Car Named Desire. Savannah Smiles. Fargo. All Godfather Movies. My most favorite movies of all, come from Brownsburg, Indiana. They star my grand-daughters Brinly and Magee and I watch them over and over and over again.
Nov. 23rd...I haven't updated my profile in awhile...Another good movie is "The Secret Life of Words". I just saw it and thought it was noteworthy. It's so rare anymore that I see a movie worth bragging about. I love the Independent Films..also "The Sweet Hereafter" was excellent. Lions for Lambs. Enchanted April...Which is just that "Enchanting". I get lost in it.. And, it gives me tingly skin :)
The Portrait of Dorian Gray (Grey)? Really Good.
They Shoot Horses, Don't They? The Golden Bowl...I loved this movie. It seems like such a simple, quiet movie. In reality, there's a very deep message in it, about being careful what you do with your life, because it does effect other people..
Where Angel's Fear to Tread....The Wings of a Dove...The Innocents, (an old movie that was really good and last night was the first time I saw "Village of the Damed" I was shocked at how good it was. That's old also, but so worth the time
The Children's Hour...A lesson on why you shouldn't lie about other people. Then..The Ghost and Mrs. Muir..With Rex Harrison and Gene Tierney~way, way Romantic..and they never even touched each other. Strange, isn't it?
Television
The only TV I watch is on the PBS Channels or.....Turner Movie Classic's. Hollywood should be ashamed of the shit they put on TV. I always think "Are You Kidding Me with This"? But...I really like the show "Mad Men"..It's the best thing on Television..I can't believe there's someone left, with talent enough to make such a show..So there's always hope, isn't there.
Books
The Secret Life of Bee's-Edith Wharton and Jane Austin. Sense and Sensibility made me cry as well as The Bridges of Madison County although I no longer consider myself a romantic {go figure}Gone with the Wind and Dr. Zhivago were both better than the movies. A Tree Grows in Brooklyn{seriously good} I love classics and I love true life mysteries and Biographies. At this very moment, I'm reading "To Kill a Mockingbird". AGAIN Also, I read "Embraced by the Light" many years ago. It changed me! Frida Kahlo, who's strength I admire so much.
Heroes
My Hero is Me...I'm a survivor..and deep within, I'm proud of the person that I turned out to be..
Who I'd like to meet: The "One" that created me. When that times comes, I'll believe that I did it correctly, this thing called "Life" There's probably going to be a few things that I'll get scolded about too.
