   PunkRockAlypse's Blurbs
About me:
I remember waiting at the bus stop in middle school. Kerry Burke was the cool older new wave/ punk chick on the block. I was in the 7th grade when she turned me on to punk music. I will never forget the first time I heard 7 Seconds (a positive force punk band who still plays today!). After begging and pleading with my parents, I went to my first punk show just a short time later. 7Seconds and Circle Jerks at the legendary Metroplex. I was hooked. The feeling I had in that room was indescribable. I found my niche. I was now welcomed into this subculture that caused me to question my existence and make a difference. I became the leader of my own path. The lyrics and belief systems in 'my punk rock' steered me in a direction without boundaries and without stereotypes. I often refer to punk rock as my surrogate parents because as I read each lyric sheet from my favorite bands and every issue of Maximum Rock n Roll ( a punk rock zine/bible), I kept those words close to my heart to guide me through whatever I faced. Music touches people is all sorts of ways, but it was the punk sub-culture that helped make me 'me'. I feel so fortunate to not only play this impactful music on Project 961, but to share this with those of you that share a common bond, as well as those of you who have yet to be exposed to 'my punk rock'. Reminisce, enjoy, embrace, or just sit back and take it in. These are the bands that inspired bands on the radio today, as well as new stuff and regional bands playing shows right outside your living room.
-Amy

I was also moved like nothing else the day I discovered Punk rock. A pot head friend of mine turned me on to the DKs and I was awed. That weekend I was going through some radio stations. I BORED from listening to radio stations that wouldn't play real Heavy Metal. One Saturday in early 1984 (I was 16) I decided to start from the end and suddenly I tuned in to "Fast N Loud" 89.3 WNUR out of Northwestern University, Chicago. They were playing the fastest shit I ever heard. I was blown away and I quickly got a piece of paper and pencil to write every band down. When they played "Trust" by 7 Seconds I made sure they would be the first out of town band to see live. That was a drive to Milwaukee, Wisconsin at the Unicorn, 1986. My friends suddenly started becoming punkers when I introduced it to them! And we started hanging out with the punks from the other side of town and forming our own bands to join an already HOT local scene with U.S.
Distress, 10-96, and the Charming Deviants!

So im pretty excited for this o-rama celebrating the corndog. even if i think corn dogs are the most repulsive thing ever made...ever.
and i still think instead of weiners on a stick it should be bananas on a stick. and im rambling...
Helen and I say you have a corndog fight. Live. No Holds Barred. Our money is on Amy.

i wanna mohawk- AFI
or anything Plasmatics.

xxash.

Ah, the weekly entertainment.
PunkRockAlypse makes me happy..and apparently I'm drunk. :D Ash and I riot for a corn dog fight between Amy and Swan. We're talkin' live on air, no holds barred, meat on a stick flinging hardcore. We put our money on Amy; sorry Swan. Amy has a weakness for mustard..but shhh. You didn't hear that from meee. I'm assuming you'll find some form of mustard bottle at a corndog festival. Who'd have thought? Have fun tonight.

I was looking up old Metroplex flyers..and found this: http://profile. myspace. com/index. cfm?fuseaction=user. viewprofile&friendID=2815505
Apparently there's going to be a big reunion in September to celebrate the legendary venue; all punks are invited who've been to shows there in the past. Wanted to give you the heads up in case you didn't already know..and if you're going..pick me up..I'll clean your oven to earn the ride!! :D
