   About Punk Rock Library
The Purpose:
The Punk Rock Library is a collectively-run, non-profit group, whose aim is to promote individuality and free-thinking through alternative literature. Many people may feel overwhelmed by the high prices in a bookstore, or the inconvenience of large libraries. Our hope is that by bringing a small, but varied selection of non-fiction books out to musical events, it can serve as a starting point for an expansion in interest of relevant topics. A few of the topics contained in this Library are:

-Environmentalism
-Indigenous Issues
-Alternative Lifestyles
-Spiritual and Religious Discussion
-Canadian, American & World Politics
-Gender Issues
-War and Pacifism
-Anarchist Thought

How It Works:
-A one-year membership to the Punk Rock Library costs $10. All of the membership money goes towards the purchase of more library material.
-The library can be found at most concerts around Regina, and most of the withdrawals occur there, however, the option is always open to book a time to view the books outside of this atmosphere.
-Books that are taken out are due one month from the time of withdrawal, however, we understand that with busy lives, extensions are sometimes needed. We are more than happy to cater to these situations, all we ask for is good communication.
-Books can be returned at any of the following places:

i) The Danger Room (1356 McIntyre Street)
ii) World of Trout -Southland Mall Location
iii) Cafe Orange (2136a Robinson St)
iv) Any of the shows the PRL is set up at
How Can I Get Involved?
We are always looking for ways to expand the Library, and this requires HELP! If you have any sort of suggestions, relating to new material, or the operation of the PRL, PLEASE get in touch! You can email us directly at punkrocklibrary@hotmail.com

A list of Due-Dates, as well as a short list of the books we currently stock can be found on our myspace: http://www.myspace.com/punkrocklibrary

"Just Seeds"? I meant Seeds for Change, in Saskatoon. Anyway, I heard thru the grapevine that Seeds for Change is selling all of its books, which may or may not be of interest to you.

An idea. To create some hype about some bands that may share some of your ideals, and beands from your city, with those bands permission, put some of their tunes up on the profile.

Invisible Leader would be down, if you would want to.

Apr 4 2007 4:23 PM

This is fairly neat. So you order in brand new books? I thought there may be some sort of borrowing system for used books too. In any case, I'm down!!! Can we include true crime novels too? Seriously, I have my own library started.

Hey Punk Rock Library, or, doorguy as I remember you from the Against Me show last night. I should have said, if you want anything for distribution, feel free to pick up anything. If there's any info or anything you want for your library - let me know. You're probably aware of Turning the Tide and Just Seeds in Saskatoon, if you want inspiration for books, etc, they might be good places to turn to?
Joshua Schnell

Mar 31 2007 4:28 PM
