About me: Punks for a princess was thought up at the wake of my 7 year old niece Kaitlyn Ferra who tragically passed away on August 7th 2008 in a flash flood while on vacation in Ashland, New Hampshire. Big Shawn Cunningham a long time friend whom I hadn't seen but once in the 14 years prior to this date came up with the idea to do a benefit show with his band Bent8 to help offset medical and personal loss expenses. I started to put out feelers and the response was overwhelming, at time it was hectic we had some bands booked but no date when we got the date some of the bands had to bail when this happened Tommy and the Terrors and Hub city Stompers both stepped up and said to do a raffle and sent me items, from there the raffle took off, bands from all over and punkrockreview.org donated shirts, CD's, Posters, Stalefish Skate and Snow and some of their vendors donated a skate deck, glasses, numerous sweatshirts, Resturaunts from all over northern RI donated countless gift certificates, Artfreek Tattoo donated a gift Certificate, even Neotoyoko.biz sent down a nice prize pack with the bands that came down from New Hampshire. Also who can forget the bands who stepped up made the trip on a Sunday afternoon and night Subsystem and The Smashed drove from and to Manchester, NH roughly 3 hours each way to play a set, The Beantown Boozehounds what can I say about these guys not only making the drive down but they would give you the shirts off thier backs and they basically did offering up any merch money they would have made to the fund, The Pathetics driving in from Worcester closing the show and club with me driving back home in the rain and having to work the next morning, The McGunks one of the first bands to accept bounced around a couple of times on when they would be going on and never wavering, 8hr waste helping me find other bands no questions asked just where and when we will be there, The Frenzy of Tongs get up on stage rock the place another local band who when a couple bands had to back out tried helping me fill spots, Chris Evil and the Taints another band who gratefully accepted without hesitation put on a hell of a show advertised it from start to finish and was all around great to have, For What It's Worth showed up for doors stayed until closing advertised the hell out of it got a ton of stuff donated and never panicked me when their drummer quit and they found a replacement for the show less than a week prior (there were alot of drummer issues associated with this show), Bent8 (Shawn, James, Matt) what can I say we go way back this was Shawn's idea that was taken and rolled with, when they couldn't get a replacement drummer (see what I mean about drummer issues) not to worry they show up and do one hell of an Acoustic set. To all the bands, businesses, people, friends involved because of you this night was a huge succuess My family and I thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
