Jamie G, Guitars and Lead Vocals
In early 2000 the band FLIPSWITCH was formed with the need to create modern rock with an edge incorporating various digital experiments such as sampling and DJ spinning. With Jamie on Lead Vocals and Guitar - FLIPSWITCH rose to the top of the Canadian indie rock community through many accomplishments, which included- Winning the 2002 Playdium National Band Wars, securing them a trip to Toronto to showcase with The Salads and Edwin, Appearing on City TV's Breakfast Television, establishing top 10 in 104.9 XFM's last band standing for 2 years in a row, and an unforgettable showcase performance at CMW 2004 in Toronto. The music of FLIPSWITCH was also displayed on various CD's, TV shows and Video Games. The list includes- Musical appearances on Radio Free Roscoe TV Show, Midway Sports Video Games NHL HITZ Pro 2004 and MLB Slugfest, IndieBlast 2002 Compilation CD, Columbia Sportswear Promo CD, and the North Shore Compilation CD.
By the time 2004 came around the band had gone through some member changes, which led them to redefine their sound. This is how ON HOLIDAY was born. With the addition of a new bass player, the band was looking to go into a new musical direction that headed towards a unique style of punk and energetic rock. ON HOLIDAY entered the Canadian indie music scene by storm- with high energetic performances at various all ages halls and downtown Vancouver clubs, the band quickly became a must see live act. This was then followed by their 2005 self titled EP recorded at 604 Studios and released in August 2005. The CD combined with their stage act sparked buzz all across Canada. 2006 saw the band win the coveted 99.3 The Fox Vancouver Seeds contest, which earned the band-- Regular radio rotation for the song "Fire Away", performances at Fox Fest 2006 opening for Billy Talent, Warped Tour 2006, Kokanee Crankworx 2006, and the seeds CD Launch Party at the Commodore Ballroom in Vancouver opening for Danko Jones.
Jamie continues to attack the music industry with energy and passion. He is currently recording his new solo project and should have material out soon!
Jamie has also joined forces with long time friends and Vancouver Power Pop Band EXIT THIS SIDE as a Guitarist. Whatchout for the new ETS album coming out in 2009.
