Punxie and The Poison Pens are an independent Brisbane band playing live for a little over a year, kicking off as a support for UK legends Anti-Nowhere League in November 2007.
We are not ‘oi’ punk, we’re punk like The Stranglers, and The Saints, and The Stooges... punk because we are DIY and not affiliated with any record label, because we are ORIGINAL and because we’re making ROCKING music that our FANS love, and the establishment hates.
If you’re after an over-produced industry album or enjoy the sweet strains of commercialized cock-sucking, like Australian Idol or the Veronica’s, you’ll really hate us.*
Punxie (vocals, being incredibly incredibly good-looking)
Matt Poison (musical genius, guitars, bourbon and coke)
Simon Venom (drums, teaching Punxie dance)
JimbOb (bass, driving sober).
Matt and Simon are ‘not-so-elder statesmen’ of the Brisbane punk rock scene, learning their trade playing in some of Brisbane’s most popular original underground punk rock bands of the 1980’s, including Scruff the Cat and The Bystanders.
James’ previous bands include popular original hard rock group Travesty.

Influences
Punxie's favourite joke:
This musician dies and goes to heaven. He knows he's in heaven because as soon as he gets there, Saint Peter gives him a VIP pass to a rock concert and he is escorted to a limousine that drives him right to the door.
He gets a great seat right at the front just in time for the lights to dim, then the drummer starts up. It is Keith Moon. Another spotlight illuminates the keyboard as it starts, and the musician is shocked to recognise Mozart. The guitars start and there is Jimmy Hendrix and Kurt Cobain, and John Entwhistle on bass... every time another instrument started, he recognised another famous musician.
Finally, a woman approaches the microphone and everyone gasps at how beautiful she is. She picks up the microphone and starts to sing... and, it's awful. Terrible. The worst singing he has ever heard.
But the music being so incredibly great, nobody minds, the concert goes on through the night and everyone enjoys themselves.
Afterwards, when he is transported backstage (it's heaven), he goes up to Jimmy Hendrix.
"That totally rocked, man!" says the musician, "It was the most amazing thing I ever heard.. Except for one thing... what's with the girl?"
Jimmy replies:
"Yeah, I know, but what can you do? She's God's girlfriend."

Hello to all, Just thought we'd stop by and say thank you ,to all the awesome bands that have sent in their material which has been aired on the show throughout the years.
We have had an exceptional response through myspace from some of the most talented underground musicians in the world . It is your contribution to our show that show people that there are still actually real musicians out there [and rap is surely not damn music, neither is that techno crap].
Undergroundsounds airs throughout Australia Thursday/Saturdays p.m.
Bands that would like their music aired on any future shows can forward their material to the address below;
Undergroundsounds Program Manager 44 Bambil St, Crestmead,Queensland. Australia.

Sounds good. I know I start training for my teaching position on the 6th and it will be ongoing for a few more months but hopefully we can work something out. the extra coin i make from taking those paid surveys online helps out alot tho; you should really do them too; i mean, hey, the extra money comes in handy, right? i guess you'll have to type the link into internet explorer or whatever, but here it is:
