Tha History
The home of DMX, The Lox, and Mary J. Blige has been pushed to the back-burner, along with the
city that birthed what we now know as Hip-Hop. Something uncut, natural, and fresh is ready to resurrect Yonkers, Ny. His name
is Benjamin ..Pure.. Gonzalez Jr., the son of Betsy Lopez, and Benjamin Gonzalez. Look to him to be The Voice of Reason.
This family oriented individual was inspired by the 1st Pure. The rhyme book owned by Uncle
Pure gave him his first encounter with Rap music. A simple Mead Notebook ignited a flame that was not quite ready to burn at
age 10. He closed it but when something in you that is so powerful, it will eventually explode.
Pure II had to raise himself with the help of his Grandmother, older sister, and Uncle Pure.
They kept him centered while he waited for the O.G. to get home. (OG meaning, Original Gangster). And that she was in South
Side Yonkers, an O.G. Her situations caused gaps in her children..s lives, but it did not stop her from being a parent. ..She
took care of us whether she was there or not.., Pure explains ..She was a huge inspiration to me... He dealt with her in and
out of jail on a regular. His lyrics now bring forth some of her past experiences.
At a young age the streets was knocking and it took a little bit of time before Pure II
answered. When his dad relocated to South Florida, at age 12, Pure had a place to getaway. But it soon became the place to keep
him out of trouble. Trouble always follows its leader. So, he played ping-pong between Elliot Ave and Ft. Lauderdale, Fl. He
never knew years down the line this southern region would soon became the home of his music.
At age 14 he let the monster out the closet. With his boy RAZ, Pure was doing what any kid
does when they find out they have a talent, he had fun with it. From the lunch room to the block he and Raz took it over for a
couple of years. But soon again his talent was suppressed. The music did not seem to generate any dollar signs, so he went to
the one place he knew it would happen, the streets.
The block cried for a demand and Pure came with the supply. The streets have one requirement,
Grind Hard, and that..s what he did. But the sweet Ghetto-Fab lifestyle soon got sour.He got in and out of trouble on many
incidences. To make matters worst, at age 18, he lost Uncle Pure, to a street rivalry. The bright days began to get dark.
..Life was meaningless to me.., say Pure, in a low tempo voice ..I lost the person that thought me to be a man... Everything
went downhill from that day. But every disappointment has its purpose.
Overcoming his Uncle's death has been a tough task to deal with. But only the strong survive.
In 2003 he formed a group called D.O.A (Dead or Alive), with his cousin and friend. That didn..t go through, but it allowed him
to become part of South Florida..s fastest growing recording company NUARA MUSIC. Through a mutual friend a family has been
build. With NUARA holding him down his mission will be accomplished.
You might think your getting the norm as far as his lyrics are concerned, but he is beyond the
average. He is able to bring you from one channel to another without any problem. Versatility is his motive and he has reached
his goal. With songs such as White Girl (for the clubs) and O ye (for his Latin family) he can bring you to two places in an
instance. And he is ..Ready to bring the team to the game...
Without a doubt Pure will put South Side Yonkers back on the map, while carrying Ft.
Lauderdale on his shoulders. He wants to open more doors for the Latin community and his fellow team members. Pure wants it to
be known ..Once I..m here there..s no getting rid of me... There is an option Pure and NUARA MUSIC will not consider, FAILURE.
Expect the unexpected when listening to Pure.
