About me: Growing tired of the watered down, tepid "music" being fed to mainstream audiences, Pure Songwriters was formed in June of 2003 with an emphasis on showcasing artists who write their own music.
Our first featured artist was Glen Phillips, an incredible songwriter who has continued to evolve beyond his days as frontman for Toad the Wet Sprocket. Since we featured Glen, other artists that have sat down and chatted with us include Sarah McLachlan, Paula Cole, Ben Folds, Sondre Lerche, Rickie Lee Jones, John Stirratt of Wilco and many more.
What makes Pure Songwriters unique is our exclusive live content. We feature up to a dozen live photos from the shows we cover as well as show reviews, artist bios and more. Artists who have agreed to be profiled on PS include David Gray, Bjork, Bright Eyes, Coldplay, Radiohead and Ani DiFranco, just to name a few.

In early October I wrote one of my latest songs called, “Wall Street Bail Out Blues.” Within four days of writing it, a video crew captured me playing it on the street at Seattle’s Pike Place Market and posted their video on YouTube. That video has now reached the attention of a writer for The Wall Street Journal who is writing an article about those who have written songs about our tough economic times. His article will be published this week and I’m excited to read it.
Who knows where this might lead? Call me an optimist but I have a feeling that this could mean that a few more seconds of that elusive fifteen minutes of fame might be coming my way.
It ain’t the cover of the Rolling Stone but it’s not every day that a writer from a major worldwide news outlet seeks me out to talk to me about my songwriting. That’s a huge validation of my efforts at staying true to my vision. I must be doing something right.

Join us in congratulating record producer Kim Copeland for her work on the Rachel Williams album, Lonely At The Bottom. Check this great review by R.K. Oermann with Music Row Magazine on Rachel's current single, The Only Thing Harder Than Leaving
"She has the goods. This creeps up on you with cat’s paws. The languid pace, echoing instruments, spacious production and her hushed, aching delivery are all immensely seductive. The lyric of leaving home is full of terrific details. And her falsetto leaps in the bridge are like little daggers to the heart. A mini masterpiece. This, by the way, is the third single in a row that I have raved about from this performer."
Hey, I just wanted to let you know: Anyone who pre-orders the new album, Big Bang Theory, on Amazon, will get a personally autographed copy PLUS 2 bonus tracks! Here’s the link to amazon.com to pre-order Big Bang Theory:
