Melbourne four piece Oneironaut have been around since 1996.
Following the release of two independent EPs and 2001’s album ‘Antipodean Dream’ on Sydney label Comrade Records, the band played extensive live shows in Melbourne as well as making regular visits to both Sydney and Adelaide.
Oneironaut have played with bands such as Further, High Dependency Unit, Machine Translations, Disaster Plan, Decoder Ring and International Karate.
With the addition of Caroline Gannell on cello, Oneironaut embarked on a solid year of writing and recording. The resulting album ‘Pure Through Evolution’ is a melting pot of sounds and ideas, this time utilizing a vast array of musicians. From horns to theremins, operatic vocals and strings, the band has produced 8 new songs expanding on their trademark guitar sound and lush arrangements.
With new bass player James McGauran, Oneironaut will be playing live again towards the end of this year in support of the new album, which is released on Melbourne label Low Transit Industries, 6th September 2004.
