About me: Hi. My name is Cindy (aka Midas), and I'm the director and producer of the feature PURGATORY HOUSE, which is a movie about teen drug abuse and suicide that was written by a 14-year-old girl I mentored in the Big Sisters program. The script was amazing, and represented a point-of-view that is rarely heard. I knew other people would relate to the story...and so a cast and crew came together...And voila! We made a movie! I am proud to announce our DVD distribution deal! Look for PH in stores (including Blockbuster) on January 16th!! Woo Hoo! In the meantime, feel free to check out our the trailer above. --Or stop by our website.
I also directed the short film Morbid Curiosity. (see top 8 below). My next feature project titled ODD BRODSKY is currently in preproduction. It's a story of a lovable loser named Audrey Brodsky. Stay tuned for more details...
Who I'd like to meet:
Here's a little part of our Behind the Scenes featuring Johnny Pacar (from "Flight 29 Down" and "Now You See It") talking about his role as Sam in "Purgatory House".
And this a music video that singer/songwriter Larisa Stow made for one of the songs in our movie! It's also an extra on our DVD.
Here's the movie trailer for "Purgatory House".

The things you wish someone had told you I wish someone would have told me what would come later. I mean, on down the road. I could have been better prepared. I wish someone would have told me that kids become drug addicts. And they almost die. When that happens a piece of you is gone and you feel it leaving. You dig your feet in and focus, but the whole time the ground is moving. The blue lips, the beeping of the equipment monitoring their breath. And all you can do watch. I wish someone would have told me.I wish someone would have told me what would come later. Watching that kid down the road begin to pick up the pieces of their life from off the ground. Piece by piece. Their eyes red and tired, their spirit asleep. And you want to help, but you can't. They have to pick up the pieces by themselves. Some of them sharp as broken glass, but they pick them up anyway so nothing will be missing when they're done. Painful piece by piece, only to drop them on the ground again. And all you can do is watch. I wish someone would have told me.I wish someone would have told me that it would become the way we live. Watching the pieces fall to the floor, watching the kid pick them up and actually praying to god every minute that this kid will be here to pick them up one more time. I wish someone would have told me. I would have the magic thing to say to make it stop. I would love the kid more, or love them less. I should've done this, I should've done that, and on and on as I fall asleep at night. Everynight. I wish someone would have told me.I wish someone would have told me what would come later on. I mean on down the road. We would learn to live in it. We make dinner. We watch movies. We swim, laugh, cry and fight. We would still work, pay our bills and go on trips. Some days are good, some not so good. Sort of like before, but not really. I hope someday the fear will fall away. Hope is the main thing. Have hope...
I loved the movie. We have the power to change while we're here. I love that. (without giving too much away) I put some positive things on my page. Scroll down. :) Dina
Wow, too many people are commenting about having not seen your movie so I thought I should comment because I have seen it, wrote a review of it and will probably see it again!
No, I haven't seen the movie yet, but I've seen it at the movie store and think of you every time I do! It's on my list and I'll let you know what I think when I see it.
You are the poster child for have a dream and never give up. I know you will a force in film making for many years to come! - this film is a must see, I saw it at the Woodstock Film Festival and was pinned to my chair by declarations of truth never uttered on celluloid before. A piece of cinematic acupuncture for the consciousness. Congratulations Cindy.
Hi, thanks for adding me, and good luck with your film. Wow, teen suicide, heavy subject, but I like the fact that you're dealing with it and addressing the problem, and also like your take on the afterlife aspect. I'm a firm believer that there is really no death, only the physical body dies, but we live on eternally. There have been a spate of teen suicides lately in UK. Oh, well, on a lighter note, enjoy your Easter break!
Hi Cindy, thanks so much for the add! I actually think that I first heard about the film a few years ago when I was living in Maine so it's nice to see you "up and about"! Let me know if you'd like to have the film reviewed on IndieTalk. com. Are you working on anything new?
Hey, thanks but i dont want to take the credit. i found it on the internet and i thought it was great... no i hvant seen the movie yet. but i had to definatly add you so i could remember to.
