PURIFY started as a side project of Guido and Dave, both members of the german death metal band DEADSPAWN. Together with shouter Markus 'Horst' Hintzen and a really weirdoz of a bass player, they formed a straight forward thrash band called PURIFY. The first songs were written in a couple of days but after the first demo recording the bass player turned out to be too strange in mind and behavior so they had to kick him out, a week before the first show. The next guy on bass was a friend called Marten (Ex-JESTER's FUNERAL) who is a quite good musician but was not really into thrash metal. So after several concerts, he finally had to quit the job as well and in January 2002 Dave asked Eddy to join PURIFY. Without having heard a single song before, Eddy learned the first three songs during one rehearsal and the chemistry turned out to be quite perfect, between the three musicians. The first few gigs went really well and after a few months they went to the studio of the guys from ABANDONED to record four new tracks. During the years 'Horst' always showed some signs of weariness and after a few attempts to get him back in line, he and PURIFY went separate ways. A few singers were tested but none turned out to have the right timing or the demanded aggression in his voice. So finally towards the end of 2005 Eddy asked the other two guys if he should try out to take the lead vocals. That wasn't new to him, since he already handled bass and lead vocals in his former bands ATMOSPHEAR/HYBRID THEORY and SERENITY. Since the situation as a trio worked o.k. for the band, they decided to keep it that way. First gigs as a three-pack followed in 2006. Early 2008 the three of us agreed to break up, due to lack of time because of several other bands or interests. Guido and Dave continued with DEADSPAWN. Now with some time in between Guido and Eddy agreed to give it another try and after some trials Wink on drums (playing with Guido for HÄNGERBÄND) was the right choice. Last to complete the new PURIFY line-up in may 2009 was shouter Tobias Mönch (RUPTURE/LIFE LONG PROJECT). THRASH ON, BOYS!!!!!
