When Jesus sent out His disciples to minister to people, He explained that they should do it all without expecting anything in return (Matthew 10:8-10). Our hearts desire is to serve and minister to people so that the name of Christ will be lifted up. May the Lord bless you, protect you and give you peace.
How great is the love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! 1 John 3:1... He even calls brides of His ~ He is the Warrior in our midst, exalting over us with joy. Zeph. 9:16
Nobody can deny there is pleasure in sin. If there were no pleasure in sin, nobody would fall into temptation. The Bible speaks about the pleasures of sin for a season. What season? The season of sowing. The pleasure of sin comes when we sow, but the pain comes when we reap. This is why David gave such a vivid description in Psalm 38 of what we suffer when we sin. "O Lord, do not rebuke me in Your wrath, nor chasten me in Your hot displeasure!" (v. 1). He went on to say that God's arrows were piercing him and His hand was pressing down on him. All of his bones hurt. His iniquities had gone over his head as if he were drowning in a sea of sin. "My wounds are foul and festering," David said. "I am troubled, I am bowed down greatly; I go mourning all the day long" (vv. 5, 6).
Why did God put this description in the Bible? Why does David compare the consequences of sin to being pierced by arrows, being pressed by His hand, sickness, a heavy burden, drowning, smothering and no peace? Because God wants us to hate sin. If for no other reason, the consequences of sin ought to warn us against sinning. The next time you're tempted, look past the pleasure to the pain and learn to say no. Remember what David says in this Psalm. You say, "I'm a Christian. I can sin." No, you can't, because you'll reap the same consequences. God chastens His own, for He wants us to walk in holiness.
Let's encourage other people to say no. Let's live in such a way that we don't encourage other people to sin. Also, let's have sympathy for those who have fallen. It's sad to reap the consequences of sin--even forgiven sin. David knew that. So let's encourage others and try to restore them. Let's also love the Lord more. Why? Because He went through all of these consequences o
i found something pretty interesting the other day... the Bible says to Wait on the LORD.... but the original text for WAIT means to be innertwined... so its not like we are called to sit on a curb and twiddle our thumbs till God says "go"... we are to be continually innertwined with Him as we wait, so that when the time comes that He does say "go", we will be so entangled in His goodness and presence, we have no choice but to take Him with us... pretty sweet ja?
PRAISE GOD FOR REVELATION THRU SISTERS!
PRAISE GOD FOR HIS WORD. (i'm learning more and more how precious it truly is!)
"...do not stir up nor awake love until it pleases." -Song of Solomon 2:7 & 3:5
"And the LORD God said, 'It is not good that man should be alone; I will make a helper comparable to him.' Out of the ground the LORD God formed every beast of the field and every bird of the air, and brought them to Adam to see what he would call them. And whatever Adam called each living creature, that was it's name. So Adam gave names to all the cattle, to the birds of the air, and to every beast of the field. But for Adam there was not found a helper comparable to him. And the LORD God caused a deep sleep to fall on Adam, and he slept; and He took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh in its place. Then the rib which the LORD God had taken from the man He made into a woman, and He brought her to the man. And Adam said: 'This is now bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh; she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of man.' Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and they shall become one flesh." -Genesis 2:18-24
I love this story, in that God was the one who did the work. Adam was asleep when his future wife was being created. And God then brought them together. There is no effort given by either of them... just God at work... blessing His creation.
Lately I have been noticing a lot of advertisements for on-line dating. Our society has brought us up (as women) to be the ones to chase after the guys, when God would have it be the other way. It is a tempting thing to go and "try to find" the right guy (especially when all you have to do is click a button on a computer), but the Lord would have us wait on Him and allow Him to do the work.
My parents are getting anxious for me to get married. They want me to go to other churches to meet people (meaning guys) my age. But that's not how I want to do it. The Lord is totally capable of doing above all I could ever ask or think! I want Him to do something amazing with my love story and meeting my future husband. I want to be able to say, "That was the Lord and I had nothing to do with it."
I know Valentine's Day is coming up, but whether you're single or in a relationship, the Lord Jesus wants to be the Lover of your soul. He loves you more than ANYONE else could ever love you! I would encourage you to not "awaken love until it pleases." Be content to wait on the Lord, knowing He is doing things that you are totally not aware of. All He asks is for you to wait, trust Him, and then obey. Don't be anxious! God will withhold no good thing from you, plus He has already given us everything in Jesus... and that was God's BEST! May the Lord bless you as you wait for His will, in His timing, in His way. God bless!!!
Unless the Lord builds the house, They labor in vain who build it; Unless the Lord guards the city, The watchman keeps awake in vain. It is vain for you to rise up early, to retire late, To eat the bread of painful labors; for He gives to His beloved even in his sleep.
Psalm 127:1-2
I just found these 2 verses to be so encouraging. I wanted to share them with you! :]
"I told them of the hand of my God which was good upon me." (Neh. 2:18)
Is the work God's work? Has He called you to do it, and equipped you for it? Be sure on these points. Take time to consider and pray and find what the will of the Lord is. Then, when the difficulties have been considered and the needs fairly measured, and the clear conviction remains that God calls you to rise and build, then, put your hand to the plow and never look back.
Power to endure to the end -patience to outlast all discouragement -zeal that will not die out, and that will enkindle the seal of others –all these are given and secured to him who knows that the work and call are from God.
For every worker and every work in the kingdom of God the principles are the same. The only way to avoid being repelled and discouraged in the work, so as to give it up in irritation, disgust or despair, is to get the work put upon the right lines from the very start. These must begin in the secret place of the Most High –The Holy of Holies –alone with God. They must proceed to the Holy Place, for the light and strength contained therein –the guidance and equipment needed. Then, and not till then can they safely come out, their success secure and their permanence established, because they are thus truly "wrought in God."
–Hebert Brooke
While the yoke of the Lord Jesus is easy and His burden is light, nevertheless the furrow that He calls us to undertake is not always by any means easy plowing. There in no yoke that fits so smoothly and handily as His, but there is no work that requires more steady trudging and persistent faithfulness than His. Three stages of that work are strikingly set forth by Hudson Taylor when he says: "Commonly there are three stages in the work for God: Impossible, Difficult, Done!"
"Faith honors God and God honors faith."
Feed off the faithfulness of the Lord! (Psalm 37:3)
