Poets started accumulating points towards Finals in April in an effort to secure one of the 10 available spots. WHERE YOUR DOOR MONEY GOES
For some reason, the question "where does the door money go?" has been asked of me, the door guy, several time in the last couple weeks. To answer that question, and to entice poets to try out for the 2010 PuroSlam team, let me answer that question: All the money goes back to the poets.
Some of it goes back in the form of our fabulous weekly prizes! Used vinyl isn't free you know!
Some of it goes to pay for Hotel Rooms for our Nationals team. Next year, when the National Poetry slam is in Wisconsin, the money will pay for Hotel Rooms and airfare for our poets.
Some of the money goes in the poets pockets in the form of per diems. We give our poets money for Nationals so they can eat, drink, and be merry.
Sometimes we give away money at our Specialty Slams. Pay attention because one may be coming soon.
And that's where your door money goes...So tip the Door man!
