Welcome to you, Sun Kings, bonsai growers and friends of phoneboxes located next to highways.
We could present a biography to you, in which we got to know each other in kindergarten or in which the uncle of a good friend of one of our fathers gave us our first guitar. Or we could tell you that we first met each other at a bandbattle which we won of course out of 10.000 bands.
Yeah we would probably have won a four week studio recording session in Tampa / Florida. Unfortunately we wouldn’t have been able to record anything, because little Benjamin (our first drummer) would have had to sell ice cream in his summer holidays to buy new strings for his guitar – since he actually was our guitarist.
Or do you want to hear that we’re way better than Metallica, Iron Maiden or at least some crappy band from our neighbourtown, because our new homepage has some really mad flashy skills or because our band has an awesome name?
No, you don’t want that, do you? What you want is the truth! Nothing but the real truth!
The only truth in this biography so far was the name PURPLE BONSAI. And that is actually just some lame middle indonesian bonsai coral.
In december 08 Pat and NoNo drove to Munich together to join the annual bonsai-convent. (You should - by this point of the story - know that they’re both exceptionally gifted bonsai growers.)
This convent is pretty much the biggest and actually the only one in europe.
Before it was time for the vespertine awards for growing research – AFGR – they both noticed a little boy who had lost his mother. The little boy’s name was Michi and he was just so happened to carry a little purple bonsai in his hands. Though little Michi seemed to be really confused and wasn’t able to speak more than some weird syllables. He was able to make Pat and NoNo understand that his mother did not want him anymore, because he kept on breaking off bonsai branches to use them as drumsticks.
Pat and NoNo looked at each other and decided to take the little guy with them, since a small drummer was still better than a drumcomputer. Michi seemed quite thankful, attended school – most of the time - and never spent more than 15 watts of electricity per day.
As the years passed by and the adoption had been successfully fulfilled, the little purple bonsai had grown and Michi had practised a lot.
At the age of 18 they had to find a solution for Michi to get to the rehearsals without taking the train every time. So it seemed to be destiny that the three of them met a man known as CaK in a automobilestore. CaK, who was well-known for specialising on italian sports cars, being chief editor of an international daily newspaper and for playing a damn mad guitar, left his autostore and since Ferrari and Lamborghini had too small trunks for Mesa Boogie amps (who by the way refused to build smaller ones) leaving was no big problem for him.
So came what destiny wanted to. A rehearsal room, practising, playing live - that’s it – unspectacular and 100% true.

And here the real hard facts:
With more than 500 concerts as an Opener or on Tour with their previous bands with Bob Geldof, Tina Turner, Whitesnake, Pearl Jam, Gotthard, Girlschool, or Victory (D) in almost all of Europe, the 4 musicians are one of the Dinosaur in the austrian Metal and hard rock genre. Hard and angry Rock Guitars, uncompromising, brutal melodious vocals, coupled with orchestral Keyboards draws the music of Purple Bonsai.

Wir könnten euch jetzt eine Biographie präsentieren, dass wir uns schon im Kindergartenalter gekannt haben, oder dass uns der Onkel eines guten Freundes eines Papas uns die erste Gitarre geschenkt hat. Oder dass wir uns bei einem Bandbattle, den wir von 10.000 Bands natürlich gewonnen haben, kennen gelernt haben. Gewonnen hätten wir natürlich einen vierwöchigen Studioaufenthalt in Tampa, Florida. Leider ist dann aus den Studioaufnahmen nichts geworden, weil der kleine Benjamin (unser erster Schlagzeuger) in den Sommerferien Eis verkaufen mussten, da er sich neue Saiten kaufen musste, da er ja eigentlich der Gitarrist war?
Oder wollt ihr hören, dass wir noch viel superer sind, als Metallica, Iron Maiden, oder zumindest als die Band aus dem Nachbarkaff, weil unsere neue Homepage das neue Superflashpornoupformat hat, oder wir einen genialen Bandnamen haben?
Nein, das wollt ihr natürlich nicht. Ihr wollt einzig und allein die nackte Wahrheit!
Das einzig Wahre an der bisherigen Bio war eigentlich nur der Bandname PURPLE BONSAI. Und das ist ja eigentlich nur eine unspektakuläre Bonsaikorallenart aus Mittelindonesien.
Im Dezember 08 fuhren Pat und NoNo gemeinsam nach München auf das jährliche Bonsai Konvent. Dass die beiden begnadete Bonsaizüchter sind, sollte man natürlich wissen. Dieser Konvent ist so ziemlich der einzige und größte in Europa. Vor den abendlichen Ehrungen für die wertvollen Verdienste in der Wachstumsforschung wurden die beiden zufällig Zeuge, dass ein kleiner Bub seine Mutter verloren hatte. Dieser kleine Bub hieß Michi und hatte auch noch einen kleinen purpurenen Bonsai in der Hand. Der Kleine war sehr verstört und sprach nur sehr wenige Wortfetzen, konnte aber Pat und NoNo mitteilen, dass ihn seine Mutter nicht mehr haben wollte. Der kleine Michi hatte dauernd die Äste der großen Bonsais ausgerissen um sie als Drumsticks zu verwenden. Die Beide sahen sich in die Augen und beschlossen ihn mitzunehmen, denn ein kleiner Schlagzeuger war immerhin besser als ein Drumcomputer. Michi zeigte sich dankbar, ging meistens brav zur Schule, und verbrauchte nie mehr als 15 Watt Strom pro Tag.
Es vergingen die Jahre, die Adoption war abgeschlossen und der kleine purpurene Bonsai wuchs und wuchs, und Michi übte und übte. Als Michi 18 Jahre alt war, musste nun ein fahrbarer Untersatz für ihn gefunden werden, damit er nicht dauernd mit dem Zug zum Proberaum fahren musste. So trafen die drei eines Tages in einem Autokaufgeschäft CaK, der sich auf noble italienische Fahrzeuge spezialisiert hatte. CaK war kein Unbekannter, zumal er auch als Chefredakteur für eine internationale Tageszeitung und als Gitarrist tätig war. Da der Kofferraum in einem Ferrari oder Lamborghini doch sehr knapp bemessen ist und Mesa Boogie keine kleineren Amps bauen wollte, fiel CaK der Abschied nicht schwer.
So kam, was sein sollte. Proberaum, Üben, Konzerte spielen und fertig – absolut unspektakulär und nicht gelogen.
