Once in 1968 I blacked out at a Grateful Dead show. When I awoke a manifesto was borne, and out of it an un-movement was created. Said manifesto reads: I have not invented a "new style," composite, modified or otherwise that is set within distinct form as apart from "this" method or "that" method. On the contrary, I hope to free my followers from clinging to styles, patterns, or molds. Remember that Purple Chong is merely a name used, a mirror in which to see "ourselves". . . Purple Chong is not an organized institution that one can be a member of. Either you understand or you don't, and that is that. There is no mystery about my style. My movements are simple, direct and non-classical. The extraordinary part of it lies in its simplicity. Every movement in Purple Chong is being so of itself. There is nothing artificial about it. I always believe that the easy way is the right way. Purple Chong is simply the direct expression of one's feelings with the minimum of movements and energy. The closer to the true way of Purple Chong, the less wastage of expression there is. Finally, a Purple Chong man who says Purple Chong is exclusively Purple Chong is simply not with it. He is still hung up on his self-closing resistance, in this case anchored down to reactionary pattern, and naturally is still bound by another modified pattern and can move within its limits. He has not digested the simple fact that truth exists outside all molds; pattern and awareness is never exclusive. Again let me remind you Purple Chong is just a name used, a boat to get one across, and once across it is to be discarded and not to be carried on one's back.
Greetings Do excuse the 'spam', but I have three new songs up on the page, each from a different upcoming album.
One from the sleepers / hellmouth split, which will be out in the next few weeks on cassette from Marygarden Tapes.
One from the first full length Sleepers album (along with the other two 'untitled' songs), also coming out on Marygarden, but on CD.
One from the collaboration album between Sleepers and Jason "EVIL" Covelli, with all words and voice by Jason, and all sounds and editing from myself.
I have been working endlessly on new material for Sleepers, and I am very excited for the progression of this project. I believe it may have even taken over Bicycle Sighs' place as my 'main' project. A lot of the albums listed on the page are still seeking homes, but I do believe I will be able to maintain a solid and consistent output, as Sleepers has unlocked something deep inside of my mind.
I am, as always, still seeking out new collaborators, in aural, literary, and visual additions.
This comment brought to you by the ancient and beloved Control + V ; may all friend adders, automated comments, and Myspace whore-bands in general be damned to eternal suffering and darkness.
I was looking at an old ambercombie and fitch catalog today, and it got me thinking, why haven't purple chong and NaiIon done a collaboration effort yet?
