Mikey, Sol, Tonto, Ali, Mark (gtr, gtr, drms, bass, keys)
Bio's (previous/current bands)
Mikey A: (DIVE, Nablivion, The Org, etc..) The tallest member of the band, likes eggs and cheese...
Sol:(Autonomicus, Buzz Gang) Likes home made, solar powered guitars and playing them in fields..
Tonto: (Nablivion) Doing a great job putting up with us!
Ali C: (The Org, Eastpole Orchestra, Brew Band etc..) She plays a 5 string through Ampeg, 'nuff said!!
Mark T:(DIVE, The Gonorrhoeas, The Bananas) The hairy one. Really, really needs to buy some new keyboards.
Influences
Many and varied... Animal, vegetable, mineral, chemical..
Sounds Like
Umm..... A kind of mostly instrumental prog outfit type thing..
Maybe a bit like the Ozrics without the expensive fx....
With elements of The Egg, hints of Hawkwind and bits of other stuff..
Here's an extract from a gig review in Venue magazine:
"Judging by the music this is not a purple headed mountain, rather a big purple headed bud of some herb or another. Strangely spacey, almost prog rock"
We have lots of different styles and moods but it all seems to revolve around progressive, melodic themes. Lots of guitar, lots of dynamics and lots of notes..
We've been in the studio recently recording some bits and pieces.. As soon as we've got it mixed we'll be posting it here..
Looking forward to sorting out some more gigs soon - we'll keep you posted!
Purple Head are available for the usual weddings, funerals, bar mitzvahs, hen nights, etc.
We have played at some quite peculiar gigs in the past and I'm sure we'll be playing at some quite peculiar gigs in the future.....
************ NEWS UPDATE ********************************
As some of you are already aware we are having a bit of a lineup glitch at the moment.
We had recently welcomed Barnsey, an old mate, as our new drummer.
Sadly, a few weeks ago, he died of pneumonia at his flat in Bristol. He was 36 years old.
We are still coming to terms with it and we miss him terribly.
His quick wit and twisted sense of humour was second to none.
He was also a superb drummer.
John, wherever you are, we love you mate.
Currently, Mikey and Tonto are standing in on drums until we get something permanent sorted out.
