Crikey folks, it’s summer 2008 and the festival season is upon us! Get your wellies and sunhat ready and join us at one of the following festivals. Glastonbury, Glade, Beautiful Days and Electric Picnic – the full Pussy parlure experience. Secret Garden Party and Reading for the Goodgroove Juice Bar and disco.
Glastonbury Festival 2008
27 – 29 June, near Glastonbury, Somerset
First up, the granddaddy of all festivals sees us take up our prime spot in the Dance Village once again. At Glastonbury we have a jam packed programme of live shows and DJs, with some fantastic homegrown and international talent. On the cabaret front we have Yard Dogs Roadshow, new York’s finest cabaret, and Cabaret Interstellar which you probably know and love by their old name Circus Star Cabaret, with their cosmic collection of circus skills, comedy and dance.
One the music front we have Martina Topley-Bird, Belleruche, Pnau, Loungeclash, Jalapeno Soundsystem, Soul Train DJs, Atomic Hooligan, Rennie Pilgrem, Slyde, Horse Meat Disco, Voodoo Trombone Quartet, Nick Hollywood and many, many more. The Dance Village boasts some new attractions this year, such as an igloo nightclub, a salsa and dance tent, and the Silent World – that’s right, silent disco all day and night, Djs and live bands! So come and check out our area, but we know whose fishnets you’ll really be coming to see ;-)
Glade Festival 2008
18 – 20 July, near Newbury, Berkshire
The UK’s premier electronic festival is a great one for all-night antics – we’re open til 6am on the Friday and Saturday nights! Our line-up includes all our favourite resident DJs, such as the legendary We Don’t Play crew, People’s Republic of Disco, General’s Hi-fi, Lazy Sunday Dj, Baby Malc, Jessica Joy and Jacob, plus special guests like live band Dr Meaker, DJs Head Gardener, Juan Time, and Electric Ballroom. Check the board outside for daily schedules, and remember our fab show from Cabaret Interstellar at 6.30pm on Friday and Saturday. Can we just remind you that the Pussy Parlure is always FREE ENTRY!

Secret Garden Party
24 – 27 July, near Peterborough
This year we head into the best boutique festival with our Goodgroove juice bar– no Spiegel but a whole lotta fun. Set around a beautiful lake this event is really interactive, and you don’t need your mobile phone - it’s small enough to bump into all your friends. We’ll be running our lovely juice bar and café, and playing fab disco, soul and funk to keep you grooving. Come and see us in the morning for French toast, cheese and beans – a festival favourite!

Beautiful Days
15 – 17 Aug, Ottery St Mary, Devon
Ah back to the beautiful grounds of Escot Park, where we lark and prance. If you haven’t been to Beautiful Days yet then now is a good time to start, with tickets kept at the same price as 2007 and still available at time of writing. A small but diverse and interesting festival, it’s family friendly and has a bit of west country oo-arr about it. We’ll have our usual heady mix of Djs, bands, cabaret and BOOZE! We will also be graced by the raucous presence of Cut a Shine, the anarchic hillbilly 21st century barn dancing squad, who will bring a thigh-slapping foot-stomping hoedown to the Spiegel. Yee-hah!

Goodgroove Juice Bar will raise its afro-head once again to provide the only late-night entertainment to the campers. Electric Picnic

Electric Picnic is indeed electric, providing all the fun you could want from a festival in a manageable size. We’ll be on the edge of the main arena, perfectly placed to serve you cocktails, beer and all the rest and throw some smashing entertainment your way. Brighton Fringe festival
Where have we been all winter? You may well ask… We were running The Parlure Spiegeltent & Garden at Brighton Festival Fringe. From January to April we planned, programmed, mapped and organised, then we took up residence at a site in central Brighton for the whole of May! As well as the Spiegeltent we had a saloon bar and lovely beer garden, and were blessed with sunshine for nearly the whole month. We ran a programme of all kinds of shows – music and DJs (of course), cabaret, kids, dance, comedy and even a musical. We had local yokels the Village Disco and deranged barn dance squad Cut a Shine razz up a Saturday night, which was so much fun we asked Cut A Shine to come and join us at Beautiful Days, and hope Village Disco will also be sillying up the Spiegel at some point in the 08 season.
We made many, many friends in Brighton, it was a real blast and we can’t wait to go back next year – we’ve got big plans! Keep one of your May weekends free and join us for a festival in the heart of the city. If you have always fancied going to Edinburgh but it seems a bit far, Brighton Fringe really is worth checking out, and you get to visit the seaside as well (please picture our lovely bar boys and girls paddling in the waves with knobbly knees out or lounging in deckchairs with knotted hankies on heads).

We are gearing up for another summer of love in the beautiful Pussy Parlure. My hairdresser told me it’s going to be a long dry summer, he knows because the frogs told him, and swears they are never wrong.
So ditch those willies, get out the suntan lotion and let’s ave it!
First up for the summer we’re very excited to be going off to the Brighton Festival Fringe, where we will be known as The Parlure Spiegeltent due to neighbouring religious sensibilities (I guess some people just don’t like cats). We will be there from 2 – 26 May, taking up residence in the centre of Brighton with a Spiegel tent, bar, café, outdoor seating area and smoking garden with fabulous décor and surprise performances. Woohoo!
The Spiegel has a whole programme of ticketed events, including comedy, a musical, weird and wonderful cabaret, tea dances, late-night shenanigans, tons of live bands, kids shows – you name it. There will be some performances by those Parlure regulars Cabaret Interstellar (aka Circus Star Cabaret) and some of our favourite DJs. A sad finding indeed that ya wont be in attendance at Isle of Wight festy in a professional capacity.
