Putra-Chic
Putra-Chic recorded and gigged together for around a year from 1999-2000.
Formed from ex members of UK bands Nekromatik, The Narcissus Pool and Sneaky Bat Machine.

With a name meanng literally 'Rotting Fahion' (although often missread as 'Putra Chick' - a far more disturbing image? or 'Put-Tra-Chick' by the even more confussed) you can bet it wasn't fairy tails of love on offer. (Although they did record a strange breakbeat industrial punk version of 'All Things Bright And Beautiful' with heavily bastardised sarcastic lyrics - I kid you not dear reader!)
The Putra-Chic sound was a grindy, scratchy, Alien Sex Fiend take on gothy NIN style industrial, injected with punk venom. Through it all though a tongue was always pressed so far into the cheek that it was in danger of bursting through said cheek and causing all manor of medical complications.
They released one EP (The First Incision) to adoration and object hatred in equal measures.
The band played all over the UK to craving hordes and violent opposition (again, in equal measures.)
One of the lasting memories being when the fellas played at the UK's Whitby goth festival and fell about laughing when Sigue Sigue Sputnik demanded everyone left the venue while they soundchecked (miming can be embarrassing we only guess?) The hillarities continued as VNV Nation complained about the size of their dressing room. Ah...Popstars eh!
The band split in 2000, when Martin and Maxi went on to form Katscan.
It should also be mentioned that Maxi was extremely instrumental in the birth of the Uk's premier industrial/EBM/Noise festival 'Infest', at which both nekromantik, and katscan (pre and post putra-chic) would play live sets.
After Putra-Chic split Shane (Nihil) teamed back up with his previous band The Narcissus Pool and is still there to this day. He also more recently formed his own project Vermin Romance and has also remixed two Katscan tracks ('Cheap Freak Trash' and 'Feed And Breed') for the 'Trashed Dysfunctions' remix album.
A 12 track collection of Putra-Chic recordings, including 'The First Incision' and various unused songs and demos is now available as an mp3 only album 'A Poke In The Eye With A Shitty Stick' from Katscan's mp3 store Scan Tunes
