As it were, perchance to dream, etc. July 1, 2008 joyously marks the release of our debut studio CD album in all of its full jazz quintet glory, entitled Bangin' Your Way Into The Future (Hot Cup Records). Featured esteemed colleagues include: trumpeter Peter Evans, saxophonist Jon Irabagon, and upright bassist Moppa Elliott. It would be our pleasure to greet you on our upcoming celebration tour of the U.K. and Europe for some wine and roses, or rather dehydration and concrete, etc. or what have you...a royal happening nonetheless accompanied by all the usual pomp and circumstance.
Furthermore, we demanded a recount, and apparently we were found to be the winners. I am not sure how many other bands were in the running for best Punk Comedy Cabaret Act, but according to the Village Voice, we are the best in the city.
puttinontheritz@gmail.com is another way to correspond with us -- we do look forward to making your acquaintance.
It would seem that many documents have been lost and/or destroyed, and as a result much of the origins and early history of this particular ensemble remains obscured. Perhaps future generations will be able to unearth more evidence, but that remains to be seen. What is known is that Puttin' On The Ritz consists of two human beings, both male and above the age of consent. They have been known to imbibe large quantities of alcohol before, during, and after their performances; for some reason this is their preference. Occasionally this obsession with intoxication produces disastrous results; other times they are merely threatened with violence. The problem is not that they are unaware of the answer, but that they forgot what the question was. Time will tell, weather permitting.
Dear Ritz We miss you too; we can still smile and laugh but it is all an empty facade without you. Ahhh, how we miss those fine wintery days. But the future, well; who is to say that it cannot be as good, if not better!? One day we will eat the Big Apple, digest its virile pips and poop them out across the East Coast with you at our side! LOVE CHOPS X
This is my music video for "It's Not Easy When You're Me"
You guys, I've been told I need to do a better job of promotimg my band, so I'm trying my hand at ye olde myspace spamming... Have you ever been friends with a myspace spammer? Have you ever woken up next to a myspace spammer? I figure in the future we'll all probably be robots anyway, so I'm cool with it...
I saw John Safran in a coffee shop this morning. I couldn't work up the courage to ask him for a photo for my new york buddy who is obsessed, so then fumbled around with my phone/camera trying to get a sneaky photo as he was paying. My heart was in it, but I'm hopeless at paparazzi. He was wearing a blue jumper and red scarf. His glasses looked like yours xx
BJ, it was great to chat it up a bit last night. The performance was stellar, far surpassing all of my expectations... try not to give good ol' Sticks such a hard time tonight, eh?
I'm pretty sure The Girl From Ipanema was playing when I was concieved. Either that or Sing Along with Mitch Miller. Either way, your version makes me want to "do it".
