About me:
Hello friends and readers. Thanks for stopping in!
I write fantasy-adventure stories for readers of all ages. Right now my new 'The Books of Umber' series has just launched, with some great reviews including a starred review from Publisher's Weekly. (Those are the chapter heading illustrations you see scrolling below.) I'm also the author of The Thief and the Beanstalk, The Eye of the Warlock, The Mirror's Tale and other fairy-tale inspired adventure stories. I have about a half-million books in print so far, all published by Simon and Schuster. If you want a story with tons of action, lots of thrills and plenty of heart, I think you'll love these books. They've gotten the thumbs up from critics and raves from students, teachers, librarians, parents and adult readers - even some award nominations. You can ask for them at any bookstore (even if it's not on the shelf - most people don't realize that!) or order at Amazon.com or any other online site. But try your local independent bookstore first.
If you read any of my books, expect lots of action, narrow escapes, scares and surprises. Check out the book and other images in My Pics, see what's up in my blog entries, and definitely make friends and leave me a message!

With some help from my publisher (OK, they actually did everything), my MySpace page has gotten a very nice facelift. The graphics were drawn from the handsome cover art for my upcoming novel, The Books of Umber: Happenstance Found which were done by artist David Ho. You' can also get an early look at some of the beautiful chapter heading illustrations from the book, in the slideshow -- if you're not seeing that, turn off your pop-up blocker.
Welcome Jen. Hoping more teachers find me here and say hello - as the first, you're getting permanent top friend status! Thanks again for using my books in your classroom.
Hello Dr. Acula. My publisher's graphics department will be spiffing up my page in a couple of months, so I'm not sure I want to do too much on my own at this point. But I may take your advice. It's pretty dull right now!
