Streatham Festival 07/08:
'' Big thanks to the very talented Streatham based flautist Pyepi who performed for you from the balcony as you arrived and again during the interval.Pyepi has collaborated with many local artists and has worked on various multi-genre projects across London ''
My musical journey started about four years old, with being given a guitar, unfortunately owing to lack of necessary guidance, the guitar became firewood, and so the years rolled by with typical juvenile misdameanours and punishing incarceration.
A period of nomadic urban coming of age away from home, the arts offered a sense of purpose and adventure, with social responsibility the late 70's cultural vibrancy had me throwing away my comb and loosing family endz.
Squatting was more than anything i could have imagined,my travels had taken me to a junction unequipped with the experiences of a musical consevatoire education, but for some reason the dulcet melodic tones of the flute,a woodwind instrument consisting of pipe with holes to be fingered, enchanted me.Of course my only concern was the rebel general did not have a flautist in the Wailers,so i knew there was a place to be filled, now i had to get hold of my chosen weapon which did'nt prove too difficult, with the aid of a grant from a charitable organisation.
I was now in the fast lane with players of the early 80's ladbroke grove melting pot,in no time i was rubbing shoulders with the likes of Don Cherry,Mark Stewart,Bim Sherman,Sean Oliver and many others too cool to mention. It is said Pyepi's melodious ambient enslavement of the immediate surroundings, is persuasive enough to render willingly or not a religous sense of gratification to the mind, heart and soul, man or beast in this world to contemplate. Is there a known musical style missing?
Right now i'm down with a cool band ' Out Of The Afternoon '
Stay tuned.

Hi Pyepi, have you been to any cool open mics recently? You ought to come down to the Railway in Bromley North one Thursday. I'll let you know when I'm next going (in a fortnight probably). If you get a few spare minutes, give my new song TJ's a quick listen. It's about a burger bar in Leicester I used to like. Kind regards, Mickmox
