In a city where the lesbian and gay scene is small and unpredictable, Fort Worth’s 10-year-old film festival dedicated to queer images in international dramas, comedies, documentaries, animation, and short films provides a welcome gathering spot for birds of a lavender-colored feather. To be sure, Q Cinema’s mission is film first, meat market a distant second. But we can’t think of a better opening line at a Q party or reception than “So what did you think of that movie?”

Q Cinema is Fort Worth's source for the best in gay and lesbian film. Founded in 1998, Q Cinema has grown from an occasional film discussion group into the presenter of a yearround series of events including monthly film screenings, live programs, fund-raisers and, of course, our annual film festival, now in its 11th year. Q Cinema is a non-profit, 501(c)3 organization. Our mission is to provide a voice for gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgendered persons by presenting films, videos and live programs that not only represent the diversity of our community but educate, enlighten and entertain us all.
