Earlier this year in 2009 we went back to our friends at Group Effort Studio and recorded a whole bunch of the tunes we've been playing for so long. The wacky cover is from Emily Elliott and the photos from Judy Doyle.
We're hooked up with CDBaby so if you can't get a copy at a show that's the place to go. Our CDBaby artist page is here at CDBaby - Queen City String Band
Queen City String Band has been playing hard-driving old-time music since around 1982. It was then that Jim Johnson and John Bealle began touring old-time dance groups throughout the eastern states of the U.S. Since then, we've all settled in Cincinnati, Ohio--the Queen City!
We've gone nameless for all these years--most recently using our names John, Jim, Eloise, and Chris. Finally we held a name contest and came up with our new name--the Queen City String Band.
Look for us at a dance near you!
Goin' To Town was recorded in 1990 at Group Effort Studio in Cincinnati. Currently this recording is out of print, but we expect to reissue it soon.
We'll be back in the studio late this year--so look for a new recording soon!

"Ticklin' The Strings" by Sweet Hollywaiians
Amazing Japanese hot string band playing 1920's, 30's, 40's style hawaiian, swing, calypso, blues, italian music and originals, featuring vintage instruments.3 songs with Robert Armstrong and Tony Marcus(from Robert Crumb and His Cheap Suit Serenaders)
"The Sweet Hollywaiians have probably the best feel for this 20's music of any string band working today. They manage the rare feat of sounding relaxed even when their playing is hot, are top notch musicians with tasteful arrangements and a full, rich, warm sound.Plus, they have a nice gamut of tunes, from King Nawahi to Giovanni Vicari to Bobby Leecan. See them live, if you can, for an unforgettable experience. If you can't, buy their Cds!" ~ Terry Zwigoff
