Heroes
A few "heroes" of mine. Most of my heroes are my family and friends. They have shown me that everyone can be a hero in their own way.
Beyond them are maybe some more familiar ones to many of you. These are heroes from comic books, movies, and yes saturday morning cartoons(before cartoon network). Here are a few in video clips or pictures.

The hits keep on coming for rugged Quad Squad By Chris Sims chris.sims@indystar.com March 6, 2008
Emily Shryock is the newest and only female member of the Indy Quad Squad at Rehabilitation Hospital of Indiana. She says she finally feels she is where she belongs. Her wheelchair rugby -- or murderball -- teammates were easy on the 20-year-old Greenfield resident at first. But Shryock can dish out punishment, and she was quickly forced to take it. She helped the Indy Quad Squad snare fourth place out of seven teams Feb. 8-10 at the U.S. Quad Rugby Association Heartland North Regional in Dayton, Ohio. The team will now play in the Heartland North Sectional on Friday through Sunday in Saginaw, Mich. "I get my fair amount of teasing," Shryock said. "I'm glad I am not the youngest. I would have been really in for some teasing then." Most team members have endured some sort of spinal injury. Shryock has been in a wheelchair for two years because of Lyme disease. After seeing her first murderball tournament in Indianapolis, being competitive again in a sport she loves is all that mattered. "I will miss playing if we don't advance," Shryock said. "The camaraderie with the guys is the best. It's the connection you have of finally getting a chance to be normal again. Everyone is facing the same thing. I have enjoyed getting that sense of normalcy again." Eleven years ago, Brad Partin, Wilkinson, suffered a diving accident, putting him in a wheelchair. He was approached about playing by coach Jason Taylor. Five players were on the initial Indy Quad Squad 10 years ago. Partin, 30, believes a recent roster bump to 15 can be attributed to back-to-back sectional berths. "(The first year) was fun, but it was a lot of work with four guys on the floor at one time," Partin said. "We have had some guys come in from other teams through a lot of word of mouth."
