About me: Our chief instructor is Sensei David Lamond. Sensei Lamond began his training in Martial Arts over forty years ago. He studied, at that time, with the legendary Shihan Antonio Pereira, who had schools (dojo) in Washington Heights in Manhattan, New York and at Tremont and 3rd Avenue in South Bronx.
Sensei Pereira taught a system based on Judo, Sosuishiro Ju Jitsu and Aikido. Shihan Pereira had studied Judo with Sensei Kotani (10th Dan Judo), Sosuishiro Ju Jitsu with Sensei Shitame (the head of the system) and Aikido with Uyeshiba Morehei (the founder). Sensei Lamond was Sensei Pereira's forty fourth student in a career in which he trained tens' of thousands of students.
Sensei Lamond then trained with Sensei Miguel Ibarra and Roy Goldberg, two of the founders (with Sensei Bernie Lau) of the Icho Yama Ryu system. He achieved the rank of Yon Mokuroku in that system.
Sensei Lamond then began his training in the secret art of Daito Ryu Aiki Ju Jitsu Kodo Kai. He has trained in that art for approximately twenty-two years, and is ranked as a black belt in that art for the last eighteen years. He was fortunate enough to be allowed to study with Kiyama Hayawo, Sensei, the North American Director of Daito Ryu Kodo Kai as well as being honored to study with Inoue Yusuke the Menkyu Kaiden (Head Instructor) of Daito Ryu Kodo Kai and two of his shihans.
Sensei Lamond also served as a Police Officer in New York. He received three citations for valor, the Excellent Police Duty award and the New York State Senate Achievement award. He also has the opportunity to practice his techniques on an almost daily basis. This gave him a unique prospective of the art that is not achieved by those who practice an art, but have never had to use it.
Sensei Lamond was a student for almost twenty-seven years before he began teaching more than nineteen years ago. He is not a "shake and bake" martial artist, but a dedicated practitioner who has devoted his entire adult life to his art.
To this day, Sensei Lamond still considers himself to be a student, and to have only "scratched the surface" of this complex and deadly art. He invites all who are interested to come and "Shugyo (learn)" with him.

Hi guys- I've been missing all of you lately. I've had to work EVERY Saturday for months, so I haven't been able to come see you guys. I'm so sorry for not keeping in touch. :( Warren- I was right across the street from your house on Monday- my new accountant is your neighbor!! She's such a nice lady. I recognized your humongous car in the driveway. hahaha! It brought back memories of working out on your deck...and the fricken chicken wing you put me in! Take care guys and the first Saturday I get off, I'll spend with you. BTW- our horse show season has started up again and is going really well. We got a championship and a reserve championship at our first show back. It was really awesome! Miss you guys. xo, Jamie
Hey guys- How are you? Good I hope. I've been hoping to get up there to see you guys on a Saturday but with horse shows and lessons, I've just been too busy. The good news is, that we have been looking at property to have a house built so we can move all of our horses home and have the business on our own property. So its been really exciting. We're going to see some builders this weekend...we'll see how that goes!! :) Anyway, let me know how you guys are doing. Take care and I miss all of you.
Dylan, Looks like you and the big man have been doing some good things with the club. I have been reading your training journal you have posted on here, give Chuck my best regards and congrats, and tell him I am sorry I was not there to uke for him, maybe I will be home by the time his black belt night goes down, and he can use me as his duty uke to teach his first class. Steve is now over here flying combat missions so y'all drop him an e-mail when you have time. Sparky
Hey guys- Have you seen that Human Weapon (I can't remember the name for sure) show on the History channel?? Its fun. Those little Mui Thai (sp) are fiesty!! I'm thinking Dylan and Warren need to take the same kind of video Odyssey... So I can't have lunch, probably until the end of August...UGHHH...I have too much horsey stuff planned. Alright, I miss you guys very much.
xo, Jamie
PS- Thanks for the good wishes Dylan...how go the Kettlebells?? I still refer people to you for those things!! Take care my friend; I miss you!!
Sorry to hear about the fall, broken fingers SUCK. That's cool on the horse rescue, with you they will be better off than most children=) See ya, Dylan
Hello- I miss you guys! Does everyone still go to lunch on Saturdays after class?? I need to meet up with you guys very soon. Things are good here, but I took a really bad fall off a horse about a month ago that I'm still getting over- broken finger and severly bruised bones in my back and pelvis...ughh- though the good news is, I remembered my jujitsu roots and kept my head rolled up when I fell, so no injuries there!! Anyway, I hope all is well with you guys. I hope to hear from you soon. Give Sensei my best wishes and tell him that I just rescued 2 horses- one 2 and one 3 yr old, both quarter horses. Miss you guys!! xo, Jamie PS- I love the photo tribute to Jim
