Quarantine is Farnborough's finest nightclub opening it's doors every Friday night from ten 'til two o'clock in the wee hours of Saturday morning.

Attached to The Tumbledown, possibly the most special drinking establishment in the area, the venue also boasts live music every Saturday evening and occasional Thursday at a suprisingly reasonable price.

----------------------- The Gig Is Up? : 4th April 2008 ------------------------

At about half past ten yesterday (Friday 4th) The Decision was made. The venue is to be closed down & the Tumbledown as we know it will cease to be.

Representatives from the council, the company & the landowners of the Tumbley sat down & decided that the best thing for the 'gateway to Farnborough' should be a family friendly 'Two for One' restaurant.

This means that the previous nine month closure will be put back to a year & a half before re-opening to make time for planning permission & the like to be sorted.

From what I was telt the company realises that Q is a money-spinner but the councilman (who is up for re-election this May) pushed for the restaurant side of things, probably to fit in with the New Farnborough. I can only assume the landowners were happy with the decision & the company lose a niggling issue they appear to have had for some time.

So, the intent is to fight; get as many of the local populace behind us as possible as well as your good selves. We'll be drawing up petitions (a few I think are already flying about) & trying to see if any of the other councillors would like some of the freakpower vote & get behind us. We'll let the local rag know what's going on & spread the word. We'll fight 'em on our own turf.

Or fuck it & start again in Brighton ;]

The decision is ours to push or be placated.

-------------------- Addendum The 3rd : 19th Mar 2008 ---------------------

Sorry for getting your hopes up on finding out details today, it was a poorly worded email that put me on the wrong tack.

Turns out the meeting I was meant to attend wasn't much to do with the overall plans for our pub afterall but more a general meeting on investments on all the pubs like ours which are closed for a wee while.

Not a happy bunny.

The good news though is having spoken to a guy at head office they're planning a one-on-one meeting & they're going to try & get as much information together as possible for that. We don't know when it will be but hopefully in the near future.

Thank you for all the support you've shown us over the past couple of weeks & sorry to keep you waiting, we know how how much of an embuggeration it is.

In the meantime Dave Vokes, our resident photographer has kindly set up a 'Save The Tumbley' group on Facebook @ http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=9322197509.

We're still not certain whether it needs saving yet but of course it can't hurt to be prepared. :]

Well, make of it what you will. There were a few discrepencies in the story but they're bound to iron out the facts at some point; as the Good Doctor may say 'these people are Professionals'.

A little worrying is the “...we have decided to transform the outlet into a family friendly venue" line from Spirit. Steady as she goes, all hands may be required on deck...

------------- Latest Nooooze : 15th Feb 2008 -------------

As many of you will be aware our favourite/nearest boozer has sadly closed down for a full refurbishment at the request of the company.

This is not simply a lick of paint & a spring clean - it's a full on fix the holes in the ceiling, replace the roof, upgrade the windows (no, not to 98, XP or Vista but definately past 3.11), et cetera, et cetera...

Currently we're looking at a September/October re-opening but we'll keep you informed as & when we get know.

We will be back.
Quarantine will be back.
The gigs will be back.
The staff will be back.
The pub will be back.

'til then kids, be strong & rock like a mother fucker.
