I grew up listening to all types of music ... jazz, punk, indie, jam bands, hip hop ... chances are if its music - I probably spent at least 10 minutes with it. I always loved electronic music and DJ culture so when I first bought turntables and a mixer in 2001 it seemed like a natural growth in music obsession. I didn't really get what I wanted my style to be until catching a unnannounced DJ set by 2 Many DJs in the basement of Lit in NYC. They mixed trendy euro-techno with hip hop and rock and played some of the craziest remixes I've ever heard not too mention people crowd surfing to a DJ set.
Expect: some rock, some dance, some hip hop, some punk, b-more and the Roy to be wasted.
風格近似
hip hop classics, mash ups, good metal, light rock and old school punk
I started "spinning" in 2001 as a crappy, dime a dozen living room DJ in New York City ... playing out infrequently and beatmatching even more infrequently. Fast forward to 2003 and a move down south to the cozy confines of Charlottesville, VA. The move to the south suddenly opened up the option of doing actual "gigs" and making $$ to support my habits (cars, bling, several houses). I can't reveal anymore details as my life story is currently being optioned for a LIFETIME movie. UPDATE: "The Roy" as he affectionately refers to himself has relocated to the waterfront section of Jersey City ("the new "insert trendy NY hood"). Gigs have been sparse as Q-Roy is home perfecting his new style of less mash up more metal.
Highlights so far:
*New years eve at MAS 2003
*winning "Best of Cville" award for 2004 and 2005
* playing for a packed tent at Bonnaroo 2004, 2005, 2006
* opening for Dave Matthews in the Bahamas -- I was such a hard act to follow that God had to step in and rain out Dave's set with the most insane storm I've ever seen. Dave and band lost alot of gear ... I lost a cool pair of headphones that friends brought back from Japan for me and my prized Japanese Jackson 5 remix cd (which thankfully was backed up on my itunes). Sorry Dave!
